Storm Water Tip
of the Month
Provided by the City of Buellton
Provide an adequate number of trash/recycling receptacles for your customers and employees in order to control litter. If litter is not controlled, it can collect on top or inside storm drains causing flooding and can be harmful to aquatic life if washed into a creek, river or ocean.

Spring Ahead!
spring-word-flowers.jpg

Spring is in the air.  This is such a beautiful time in our Valley with the green rolling hills, budding trees, wild flowers, and the sound of rain drops.  Take advantage of all that mother nature has provided for us, we are lucky to live where people want to vacation.

Buellton is enjoying growth in many ways, one with nature and also that of new development.  We are excited to welcome so many new projects to our City and look forward to the opportunities they will bring.  In the next few years, we will welcome new residents, new businesses, create new jobs, welcome more visitors, and change the image of our growing city.  Hopefully we can all embrace this time and make the best of what is yet to come.

March 18th Mixer at the
Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society
We are excited to announce we will be joining our furry friends, at the SYV Humane Society, this month for a fun Spring Mixer.  Please join us in supporting the Society and the animals they care for.  You will be able to take a tour of the facility and see what services they provide, as well as see the animals just waiting to find a good home.  Who knows, maybe one will be calling your name.
We encourage you mix and mingle, meet new people and build those business relationships.

We always welcome your raffle items for our mixers as they are another way to put your business name out there to the community.  Please contact the Chamber with any questions or donations.  Thank you.
Mixer Hosts Needed
We still have openings for Mixer hosts this season.  If you or a group of businesses would like to get together and host a mixer, please contact the Chamber.  The mixers allow you to showcase your business and educate the community of the services and/or products you offer.  Please do not feel you have to go overboard on the mixers, the main reason to host is to welcome people into your business who may not be aware of what it is you do.  Thank you in advance for your support and please let us know if you are interested or need help setting up a mixer.  688-7829

Buellton State of the City Recap

City Manager, Marc Bierdzinski shared a positive outlook to the residents and community members who attended the State of the City.  Hosted by the Buellton Chamber of Commerce, the event drew over 100 attendees for a buffet lunch provided by the SYV Marriott.  Marc provided insight on City finances, budgets, overall economy and of course the many projects in the works.  The theme of the day was construction so Marc gave an overview of what Buellton has in store.  From industrial, entertainment, dining, residential, lodging, and commercial, Buellton's economy is growing and our future looks very bright.

Top 15 Websites every Small Business Owner should know in 2015
laptop-couple.jpg Make this year the best by staying relevant and in the know when it comes to owning and operating a small business.  Owning a business in today's society is very different from years ago.  From generation to generation, the buying habits we see are much different and it can be very tricky to reach all markets and be all things to all people.  The Internet has changed the way we do everything, from research, shopping, buying, investing, listening to music, and the list goes on. While doing some research, we came across this list of websites that we think is a good list when it comes to staying relevant and may just offer the help you are looking for in your business.  Topics include:  Marketing, Resources, Legal advice, and New to Business.  Please take a look and bookmark this site for your future use.
We welcome new business to Buellton, but at the same time, we know it will bring competition to existing businesses.  This is where staying relevant, in the know, and ahead of the curve will keep you in business and profitable.

2015 Tax Tips
Here are some interesting tips you may find helpful when working on your taxes this year or to prepare for the future.  Taken from the website:  Fit Small Business which discusses product reviews and recommendations.  We know this can be a stressful time for all of us whether we own a business or not, but hopefully these tips will prove helpful when doing your taxes this season.

Sponsors and volunteers are still needed.  This offers you another way to support the cause.

Thank you Mother Hubbard's for hosting our January Mixer.
We have been so fortunate to have Jon, Doniece and their family open up their restaurant, Mother Hubbard's, to us for our Annual Potluck-Re-gifting mixer.  It's always a great time full of surprises and good food.  Thank you to all who brought side dishes and especially to Jon and Doniece for those delicious pulled pork sandwiches and warm hospitality.  We truly appreciate everything they do for us and for making Buellton the friendly place we have all come to love.  Can't wait to see what presents show up next time.  Thank you!

Vacant Commercial Spaces Available
desktop-items-phone.jpg If you or someone you know are looking for a commercial space to lease, look no more.  Buellton has some great opportunities for businesses looking to grow.  Being at the crossroads of Hwy 246 and Hwy 101, Buellton lends itself to a large amount of traffic and visibility.  Here is a list of some spaces available in Buellton.  We will continue to update this list as we learn of more spaces.  Make Buellton the home of your business.
Water Wise
teardrop_icon.gif
Even though we are seeing some rain, we are a long way from being out of the drought.  We encourage you to continue being conservative with our water and make small changes that will save in the long run.
Save Water Indoors by:
  • Reducing shower time from 10 minutes to 5.
  • Plug the sink instead of running the water while shaving and brushing your teeth.
  • Check for a leak.  Turn off all the water in your house and check your meter for a spinning triangle.  Movement means a leak! Repair promptly.
Close the Poop Loop
dog-walker.jpg The City of Buellton has launched a new pet waste campaign to encourage residents to pick up after their dogs and toss it in the trash.  Residents may receive a bone-shaped keychain flashlight by pledging to keep the community clean and put dog waste in the trash. Visit www.closethepooploop.org to take the pledge. Disposable bags are available at our local parks so there's no excuse to not pick up after our pets.  Thank you in advance for helping Buellton Close the Poop Loop.
