Storm Water Tip
of the Month
Provided by the City of Buellton
First- Go out and do a Rain Dance so we actually have Storm Water to deal with.
Next - Sing in the Rain when it does come.
Finally Our Tip of the Month - Only allow rain down the storm drain! Storm drains lead to creeks, rivers, and eventually to the ocean without receiving any treatment.
For more information on the Storm Water Management Program, contact (805)697-1407 or email: SWMP@cityofbuellton.com

Greetings!
As we are all aware, California is experiencing a serious drought. While the rest of the country seems to be freezing their tails off and up to their eyeballs in snow, we sit here experiencing warm sunny days walking on the beach, staring out at the beautiful sunsets. What are we complaining about, right? Well, if you've taken a drive over the San Marcos Pass lately, you'll understand how serious this really is. What use to be a small little island in the middle of Lake Cachuma, is now part of the stretch of land that surrounds what water is left in the lake.
As residents and business leaders in our community, we need to take proper steps to conserve and respect our resources. Although our population may be small, we are inundated with travelers every weekend. More people means more meals, more showers, more laundry, more dishes being washed, and the list goes on.
I've included a letter from Hannah Beth Jackson outlining in more detail and providing more information about the drought we face and some tips that we might all find helpful.
Share this information with your friends, co-workers, neighbors, and family. The more we know and the more conscious we all become, the better off we will be.
For now, enjoy this summer-like weather and figure out a way to pump that snow out here when it melts. We could use it.

Buellton Chamber Featured Business of the Month
Antonio's Pizza
Antonio's Pizza has been serving Buellton and the Santa Ynez Valley since 1986. Originally, Arnoldi's Pizza, the restaurant used to reside where Pattibakes currently operates. Arnoldi's Pizza sold in 1990 and moved over to the Buellton Shopping Center, and was renamed Antonio's Pizza.
Who is Antonio? We have no idea!
Antonio's Pizza is currently operated by Marc Gundell, the fourth and longest running owner, going on nine years now. We at Antonio's Pizza would like to thank all of our customers for keeping us here in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley for all these wonderful years.
Antonio's Pizza is known for its homemade bread rolls and Chicago-style pizza. The family friendly restaurant also serves fresh salads, sandwiches, pasta, and chicken burgers. Antonio's Pizza has a wide variety of beers on tap, including offerings from local breweries like Firestone and Fig Mountain.
Future restaurant plans include a name change to better fit the local area. Other than the coming name change, nothing else, including management and recipes , will be different. As stated before, we have tried tirelessly to track down Antonio and after all these years, have been unsuccessful.
Please come in and try Antonio's Pizza. We offer weekly lunch specials as well as other fare throughout the week.
Thanks again to all of our customers for supporting and keeping us here in Buellton!

Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society Pet of the Month
Lulu and Susie are a bonded pair who have been together since birth. They lived with a doting senior for 11 years and came to the Humane Society when their owner moved to an assisted living facility. Seniors themselves, they have their own medical concerns. Susie is missing most of her teeth and Lulu has a collapsing trachea that she has been living with for years. They are in their twilight years hoping for a new owner to adore, who will adore them in return. If you love Maltese, you will want to meet these two. They are special. Both girls are microchipped.

We are featuring our members on our Facebook page and photos go a long ways in the Social Media world. We're asking you to provide us with 2-3 photos that we could use when featuring your business. It might be a photo of you, your office, a product, or whatever comes to mind. We ask that you send us up to 3 photos that we may use. Thank you Mother Hubbard's Restaurant!
Our members enjoyed a fun, filling evening at Mother Hubbard's Restaurant for our Annual Re-gifting, Potluck Mixer. This is always a great way to start the year and enjoy the spirit of our community. Jon cooked up his delicious pulled pork sandwiches and the potluck pleasers that showed up made for great sides. Thank you to all who came out and brought food and the huge selection of gifts for the raffle. We needed a bigger table to put them all on...wow! Again, thank you Jon, Doniece and their entire family for their continued support and generosity. We always look forward to starting a new year with Mother Hubbard's. PAWS Park was the non-profit to receive donations from the drink proceeds. Our business of the month went to Antonio's Pizza and the perpetual drawing went to Ascendant Spirits, however they were not present so the pot will go up to $60.00 at our next mixer in March. |
