To prevent pollution, regularly clean areas where animals are kept. Picking up animal waste, uneaten food and other waste products can help prevent bad runoff. Do not allow wash water to be discharged to storm drains or or to receiving water without treatment.

Greetings!
Bye Bye 2013 and HELLO 2014! At the Chamber we are embracing the New Year with arms wide open. The New Year is our chance to start with a clean slate so to speak. It's the time to make changes in our lives and keep that promise to ourselves. It's a time for a business to regroup and try something that might just keep those customers coming back again and again. What will you do to get others to talk about you and share the special things you do for your customers? It might be as simple as a festive welcome mat at your business. It might be answering your phone with a smile. It might be fresh flowers on the check out counter. How about a jar of candy on the counter. Uh oh, Dr. Oquist and Dr. Haws may not like that! It might be as simple as saying Thanks for coming today. It might be a Facebook page. Well what ever it is, make it memorable so others will talk about you and your special touches. We'll start out the year with a challenge to you our members. What will you do to delight your customers? Let us know and we'll share ideas for all to use. Ideas can be sent to Jody at info@buellton.org.
I would also like to thank our members that faithfully support us each month by advertising in the Biz Card Rack. You can thank them too by supporting them when the opportunity arises.

 TUESDAY January 21st 2014 Mixer at Mother Hubbard's Restaurant

It's become a January tradition that we join Jon, Doniece and the family for the white elephant gift exchange and potluck mixer. Jon cooks up the main dish and we bring the side dishes to share with each other. Appetizers, sides, casseroles, and desserts are welcome. Then bring an item to re-gift. We'll play the keep or steal game, which always brings laughs and smiles to the crowd. The mixer will be held on a TUESDAY, so mark your calendar now.

Steve Lykken honored by the
Buellton Chamber of Commerce
as the recipient of the
Vincent B. Evans Award for 2013.

Steve Lykken, owner of Steve's Wheel and Tire in Buellton was honored as the recipient of the prestigious Vincent B. Evans award. The presentation took place at the Buellton Chamber Holiday Luncheon on December 12th, at the Marriott. Mr. Lykken was chosen as this years honoree by the Buellton Chamber and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors. This award is presented annually in memory of Vincent B. Evans. Mr. Evans was instrumental in the foundation of Buellton and giving back his time and energy to make our City a great place to be. Steve has been generous in his support of community and we thank him for all he has done.

Turn your Christmas Tree into Mulch. January 5th at River View Park
For the first time, residents may bring their Christmas trees (other trees will be accepted as well) to be chipped and take home the mulch for their yards. For all the details, check out the attached flyer. MarBorg will still offer the curbside tree pick-up service, but for those who would like to turn their tree into mulch, this is another great option. |
