Greetings!

1st and 10 do it again!  If you're a football fan, you must be loving this season.  But, there are many reasons to love this season besides football.  You have some great opportunities in the next few months to capture your share of the market and move those chains, (that's football language for making progress and moving the ball down the field).

With the holidays just around the corner, you should be studying your playbook and coming up with ways to tackle your customer base and move your business forward.

As the Chamber, we're here to support you, cheer you on, and do what we can do to help you succeed.

All the best to you as you make your way to a Touchdown!!

Go Team!  Buellton Rocks!

October 16th Mixer
at Rabobank - Buellton Branch
61 W. Hwy 246
5-7pm
You're invited to join us for our upcoming Mixer at Rabobank.  Sonia Jimenez, Branch Manager, and her staff will be hosting our October Mixer.  Come mix and mingle, while enjoying food, beverages, and live music.  This is always a great mixer, so we'll see you there.

We greatly appreciate the continued support of our members and can't thank you enough for your gracious donations.  If you would like to promote your business and donate an item for our raffle, please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 688-7829 and we'll gladly add you to our list.

The Scarecrows are coming to Buellton and the entire Valley!!
We are so proud of our local business community for coming out and supporting this event.  We have just over 40 entries for the Scarecrow Fest and hopefully one of these will bring home the Harvest Cup!  We're working on a ballot and map for you to take around and vote for your favorite.  Scarecrows will be up from October 11- Nov 11 and all ballots are due by October 25th.  We will have ballots at all participating business locations and ballots may be turned in to designated locations.  The Buellton winner will be announced on Halloween and from there will compete for the Harvest Cup (the best of the Valley).  So get out and support our businesses and enjoy all the time and effort that went into building these scarecrows.  Have Fun and happy voting!!
Rent a Christmas Tree for Your Business from My Living Christmas Tree Co.
xmas-tree-icon.gif As we've seen in surrounding communities, the towns come alive during the holidays and this year, we're inviting you to help create that spirit in Buellton as well.  My Living Christmas Tree Co. offers our local businesses the opportunity to rent a tree for the Holidays.  The cost is $100 to rent a tree and that includes:  Delivery / Maintaining & Watering / Pick-up.  All you have to do is decorate and display the tree for all to enjoy.  The trees will be delivered around Thanksgiving and picked-up after the New Year.  If you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity, feel free to give them a call & order your tree.  805-452-0091.  What better way to spruce up your business during the holidays than with a live tree?
Turn your Christmas Tree into Mulch.  January 5th at River View Park
For the first time, residents may bring their Christmas trees (other trees will be accepted as well) to be chipped and take home the mulch for their yards.  For all the details, check out the attached flyer.  MarBorg will still offer the curbside tree pick-up service, but for those who would like to turn their tree into mulch, this is another great option.

Santa Ynez Web Designs

Mike Petersen with wife, Carol Lesher-Petersen

I retired from the United States Air Force in 1988 and from Lockheed Martin in 2009. Carol volunteered me to create a website for PAWS Parks and soon after that, the Vikings of Solvang asked me to become their webmaster.

During my working years I learned database analysis, system administration, networking and software programming. It wasn't long before I was comfortable with the tools necessary to create websites and a new career was launched. Santa Ynez Web Design is here to help you or your business with web design needs.

I'd love to hear from you and if you are interested in having a website built for your personal, business or professional use, you've come to the right place.

Dingo Queensland Heeler Blue Merle 1 ½ yrs. M(N)

There are many cattle dogs, but few are as spectacular as Dingo. He has a stunning blue merle coat, a bright smile and a mild temperament. Dingo comes from a family home with acreage. He enjoyed playing with the children, socializing with the horses, and chasing the squirrels. It was a dog's life. Unfortunately, he enjoyed chasing the cows as well, which was frowned upon by the ranch owner, not to mention the cows! Dingo is very obedient, unless cows are involved, and would make a great family companion. Come meet him today. Dingo is microchipped and weighs 45lbs.

Foodbank needs you!  Volunteers needed to teach kids nutritious recipes!
The Kid's Farmers Market Program is an opportunity for the Foodbank to combat the prevalence of obesity and diabetes in the low-income population through nutritious foods and nutrition education. The nutrition education curriculum details how fruits and vegetables are grown, how they are cooked and used, nutrition value and importance; and include learning activities and recipes that promote fresh produce as an alternative to processed food.  As part of the curriculum, the Nutrition Educators and children prepare and eat a nutritious recipe during each Kid's Farmers Market. The children are encouraged to participate in the food preparation activities, taste the seasonal produce and recipes, ask questions and take home educational materials to share with their families. At the conclusion of the nutrition education curriculum, the children gather the produce they have selected at the start of the Kid's Farmers Market and the education materials to take home.
KFM Educators engage children in making healthy recipes once a month.  One-hour training is required.  Educators are needed at Oak Valley Elementary School in Buellton, the 2nd Wednesday of each month, October - May, 3pm-4pm.  Please contact Darlene Chavez, 937-3422, ext. 109 or
Thank you to Restoration Oaks Ranch & Blueberry Farm
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the entire Rolland Jacks family for their warm hospitality.  They have a beautiful farm and Retreat/Vacation home which they shared with us in September.  Our business members had the chance to tour the home and property and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.  The home sleeps up to 18-21 people and all you'll need is your suitcase.  Complete with all the amenities of home plus a game room, bocce ball court, outdoor dining and fire pit, this is the perfect location for reunions, retreats, or weddings.  The Blueberry farm will be open on Saturdays from 10-2, on announced weekends, for various items through the harvest season.  At this time, you may be able to pick some raspberries or grab a pumpkin from the patch. Please think of Restoration Oaks Ranch for your next gathering.
Remember, these mixers are meant to network, and meet other business persons who you may wish to do business with.  We encourage you to bring your business cards, shake some hands, and make your way through the crowd.  We've heard some great success stories come out of our Mixers where individuals were able to sign some pretty impressive deals.  The Mixers also offer a way for our hosts to invite you into their place of business and showcase what they have to offer and meet their staff.  Remember to thank them for their hospitality when you have the opportunity to do so.  As you can see, a great deal of planning and preparation goes into hosting a mixer.
Our sincere thanks goes out to the following businesses who were so kind to donate an item for our raffle:
Rudie & Carol Henderson ~ Jan, Lamont  Kelly Chase ~ RedFern Acupuncture ~ Zaca Creek Golf Course ~ South Coast Karate ~ All Sport Fitness ~ SYV Humane Society ~ Neary Chiropractic ~ Figueroa Mountain Brewing ~ Postal Annex ~ PCPA Theaterfest ~ Zodo's Bowling ~ SB County Vintners Association ~ Pea Soup Andersen's Restaurant ~ Your Travel Center ~ Buellton Senior Center ~ Restoration Oaks Ranch ~ First Bank ~ Buellton Garage ~ Buellton Medical Center ~ First American Title
