Store hazardous materials and wastes where they are protected from rain and in a way that prevents spills from reaching the sanitary sewer or storm drain. Keep lids on waste barrels and containers, and store them indoors or under cover to reduce exposure to rain. We are trying a new day to meet for Contacts and Coffee and hope this will accommodate your schedules better so you may attend. Mark your calendars for every Thursday as we meet for Contacts N Coffee at Avant Tapas & Wine. Our meetings go from 8am-9:30am and offer you a chance to network, share your business with others, and meet other business members in the community. Great referrals come from within this group and you are welcome to join us any Thursday. First visit is FREE. Also, once you are in the Contacts N Coffee system, you may attend their networking gatherings at any of their locations which spans from SLO, SB, and Ventura counties and beyond. Picnic in the Park Program feeds 35,000 kids in the Santa Barbara County who might otherwise not have a meal during the summer months.
38,155 children in SB County receive free and reduced-priced meals at school. During the summer, those daily meals vanish.
The Foodbank provides nutritious lunches, physical activities and nutrition education at 15 sites countywide. Help support the Foodbank and feed our children.

The Heat is On! Whew!! Looks like we've jumped right into Summer and there's no turning back. Take advantage of these hot days and offer some "Cool" specials at your business. Whether it's food, products, specials, or even offering free popsicles to your customers, get creative with your marketing during these hot summer days. If you have air conditioning, invite people to come in and enjoy the cool air while they shop around. There are many ways you can make a sale and add to your bottom line, by being creative and thinking outside the box. Instead of, "Can I get you any dessert?" How about, "May I bring you one of our cool, refreshing, items from our dessert menu?" It's all how you say it that can make the difference. Do your homework, get creative, and most of all...have fun! Smile! It's FREE and it goes to your bottom line.

General Manager, Mike Hendrick and his entire staff at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott have invited us to join them for our annual July Mixer. We are moving it inside this year to the Convention Center on the ground level. The Marriott is anxious to share with us the plans for their upcoming, complete renovation and addition of their property. Be sure to come check out their plans and get an idea of what to expect in the near future. Also, we'll be sampling the new Lobby Lounge menu, complete with pizza, steak bits, hors d'oeuvres as well as beer and wine. In keeping with their certification of a Green Hotel, the Marriott is installing Tesla Recharging Stations which will be up and running very soon.

Arts on the Avenue
Saturday, July 6th

The Buellton Rec Center is hosting the Annual Arts on the Avenue, July 6th. The fun all takes place on the Median just north of Second Street from 11am-4pm. The community is invited to come out and enjoy Arts, Crafts, BBQ, Food Booths, Beer Tasting, Live Music, Bounce House, Car and Motorcycle Show and much more. Join the fun, bring the kids, and enjoy a day on the Avenue. For more information contact the Buellton Rec. Center at 688-1086.
Also taking place on the same day is an Open House for Chapman's Auto Wash and Detail located at 518 Avenue of Flags, at the corner of Avenue and Second. Why not take your car in for a detail while you make your way over to the Arts on the Avenue. Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Hi, we are the Chase's, Monty, Jan, and Kelly from Ontario California. We sell Gold Canyon Candles, the worlds finest smelling candles. Their fragrances are true to the names given to the candles. We have been involved with Gold Canyon for the past ten years. We have enjoyed coming to the Santa Ynez Valley to visit Jan's Sister and Brother-in-law, Carol and Rudie Henderson. They introduced us to the Buellton Chamber mixers several years ago and we have made so many new and wonderful friends. We always feel welcomed by everyone. The Chamber does such an outstanding job of communicating to all of the events that are going on in the valley.

Surf 'n' Suds Beer Festival
in Carpinteria
Coming in August
DEEP Surf Magazine is proud to announce Surf 'n' Suds Beer Festival on Saturday, August 10th in Carpinteria! A beer festival with a surf twist! Local surfboard shapers will be on hand, surf flicks shown all day and three live bands will keep you grooving!
VIP tickets are $60 and allow you into the festival an hour early, plus you will get unlimited access to the VIP Zone where Island Brewing Co. and two surprise breweries will be pouring all day.
General Admission tickets are $45 and include sampling from every brewery at the event! Designated Drivers are encouraged to come as well and enjoy all of the entertainment! $20 for DDs and it includes a complimentary food voucher.

What happens when a female Shih Tzu and a male Chihuahua get together? You get Miss Rose, a wirehaired floppy-eared beauty. Initially shy, it is only minutes before her little tail starts to wiggle and her little eyelashes start to flutter. She is an absolute charmer. What's more, her wiry hair lends itself to molding. In this picture she is sporting her mohawk look. Come meet this little beauty today. Miss Rose is microchipped and currently weighs 12 lbs.

 The Scarecrows are coming to Buellton and the entire Valley!!
Buellton businesses are invited to participate in the Santa Ynez Valley Scarecrow Fest. We've seen our neighboring communities celebrate the Fall season with an abundance of Scarecrows greeting you at their door, but this is the first time Buellton will also take part in this seasonal event. Every business is welcome to participate and here are some details to get you thinking about it.
-October 11-November 11, 2013 (Scarecrows will be on display)
-Scarecrows will be judged and a winner will be selected from each community(Los Olivos, Los Alamos, Santa Ynez, Solvang, & Buellton). From there, the winner from each community will then compete in the final championship for the "Harvest Cup". The trophy will be designed and created by Hans Duus, our local blacksmith. The winner will be announced at the Solvang Farmer's Market on November 20th and the "Harvest Cup" will remain in that community for the year until the next Scarecrow Fest. So let's bring it to Buellton!!
-A FREE Scarecrow Workshop will take place on July 29th at the Solvang City Hall, 1644 Oak St. at 6 pm if you're interested in learning more about how to build a scarecrow.
-A large deal of marketing will take place around this event, so it is a great way to expose your business to locals and visitors alike and get them into your establishment.
Get Excited! Start Early! Be Creative! Get Involved! Have Fun!!
More details will follow as we move closer to the date, but in the meantime, start imagining what your scarecrow might look like. We'll be sending out participation forms in the near future so be on the lookout.

Thank you to Mark and Vickie Mendenhall for hosting our June Mixer at the Mendenhall Museum.
Our many thanks go to the Mendenhalls for opening up their home and Museum for our June Mixer. It was a tremendous turnout and a fabulous time for all. Mark and Vickie cooked up a delicious Tri-tip meal, including Vickie's homemade potato salad and served up some wine and Fig Brew to wash it all down. Guests were able to tour the museum, which is also the home of the Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame, and took in the unique, one of a kind collection. The Mendenhall Museum is open for tours, group events, and special occasions. Appointments may be made by calling either Mark or Vickie. This is truly a hidden gem in Buellton and we are very fortunate to have the Mendenhall's share this with our community. In addition to all the food and fun, RJ The Sound Guy kept us in step with some fun music throughout the evening. He is available for all occasions and offers a variety of services.
