May is a busy month for the Chamber. Starting out with the Buellton Bargain Day, followed by the Buellton Brew Fest and of course our monthly mixer on the 15th. Also in May, Buellton will be the host to the Relay for Life at River View Park and Valley Pets will be holding a Pet Festival. No reason to be bored in Buellton, there's lots of activities to go out and enjoy.
May is also Craft Beer Month and to celebrate that our local breweries, Figueroa and Firestone, along with Avant will be celebrating this growing industry. You may find more information about all of these events and more in the news below. Enjoy everything this month has in store for you and we hope to see you out and about.

Join Pam Gnekow and Wells Fargo at the Buellton Senior Center, located behind the Library and Post Office on Wednesday, May 15th. The Buellton Senior Center, who also operate Country Garden Catering, will be showcasing the center and giving you a glimpse into the services they offer. They work hard to deliver "Meals on Wheels" and feed the seniors in our community.

Kicking off Craft Beer Month will be the Buellton Brew Fest. Proceeds from this event benefit the Buellton Chamber of Commerce. This was a sell out event last year, so be sure to log on and get your tickets soon. We have a great line up of craft beer, some unique vendors, live music provided by Burning James and the Funky Flames, food, and craft soda. Avenue of Flags Criterium - This event is taking place June 29th on the Avenue of Flags. Projected to draw thousands of people, there are a variety of levels for sponsorship opportunities.
Prelude Bike Ride - The Prelude Bike ride is comingin November 2, 2013. We are partnering with all the Chambers and communities within the Valley to come up with a discount flyer/booklet to include in their swag bags. High School Senior Grad Night - This is an all night event put on for the graduating seniors at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School. Pirate Discount Card - This is provided by the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School Football Boosters. You may have seen these before or you may already offer a discount on the card. These cards are very popular and used by the community on a regular basis. All you as a business are asked to do is offer a discount on your product or service. You can be creative and make restrictions if they apply. For example, maybe you only want to run a special on Tuesdays, or maybe Sun.-Thurs. It's up to you. This costs you nothing except the discount you offer. The cards are sold for $40.00 and are good for one year. Funds raised are for the High School Football program in the way of equipment, uniforms, etc.
Elks Rodeo Queen - the month of May is a special month for the Santa Ynez Valley Youth Rec and the Elks. This year, Emma Andersen was chosen as the Queen candidate for the Elks Rodeo. Most importantly is all the fundraising that takes place around this event. Emma has a month packed with events and activities that will all raise money for our Youth recreation in the Valley. Please help support Emma in her run and support our Youth.

Relay For Life is about a community coming together to take up the fight. We need you to be a part of that fight! So many ways to get involved..Put together a team of friends, family and co-workers. Raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and free patient services. Walk, run, camp out, eat, cheer, dance, make friends and have fun! Although she is not likely to run up to strangers in pursuit of attention, all bets are off when the person is someone she knows. Beloved family and friends get an enthusiastic body-wag, zigzag! They were gracious enough to open up their private banquet room and the entire Barrelworks portion of the Brewery to share with us this new division of Firestone. Barrelworks provides the facility to age barrel beers, which are also known as, "wild beers" or "sour ale". Because of the bacteria that escapes from the barrels during the aging process, this beer may not be anywhere near their other brands of Firestone Beer during this process. Therefore, Barrelworks was born. Please stop by and visit Barrelworks to take a self guided tour and try out some of these, "wild beers".
