FHWA Offers Assistance for Sustainable Transportation Tool Use
| The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will help state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, federal land managers, and local governments to use a new sustainable transportation tool. INVEST 1.0 (Infrastructure Voluntary Evaluation Sustainability Tool) is a new FHWA tool that helps state and local governments and related organizations assess and improve the sustainability of their transportation projects, plans, and programs in a structured and systematic way. Implementation assistance awards may range from $25,000 to $150,000 depending on the projects selected, provided there is a non-Federal match. FHWA will accept letters of interest and award funds on a rolling basis as funding is available; FHWA will consider letters received by February 15 for a round of funding expected in March. An informational webinar with time for questions and answers will take place on Friday, February 1 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm (EST); register here. Read more at www.sustainablehighways.org.
