NEMW Coalition Co-Chairs Join in Urging Release of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Funds
Northeast-Midwest House and Senate Coalition Co-Chairs Reps. Steve LaTourette (R-OH) and Jim McGovern (D-MA), and Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) joined 90 Representatives and 38 Senators in sending bipartisan letters to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to request that the Department immediately release as much LIHEAP funds as possible under the current continuing resolution.  The continuing resolution runs until March 27, 2013, through the height of the winter heating season.  See press releases from LIHEAP champions Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI).

Webinar: U.S. EPA Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Grant Guidelines
On Monday, October 22, at 2:00 EST, U.S. EPA will host a webinar to walk through the FY13 Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Grant Guidelines, discuss eligibility and ranking criteria, and answer any questions potential applicants may have. These grants assist specific areas, such as neighborhoods or downtown districts, in conducting research, technical assistance, and training that will result in an area-wide plan and implementation strategy for key brownfield sites. Access the video portion online at https://epa.connectsolutions.com/awpguidelines/; audio is via telephone at 866-299-3188 / code: 202 566 2773.
