Art Enrichment for Early Release and No School Days
Ages 5-8 and 9-12
1:00-3:30pm ~ $20 a class, $15 for siblings

Are you looking for something fun, challenging and enriching to do on those early release days? At the Falmouth Art Center, children will have the opportunity to explore different art mediums, create sculptures and collages, paint, draw, and print as well as learn about notable artists. Each class will be 2 hours long and will be available to two different age groups: 5-8 year olds will be taught by Susan Jensen, and 9-12 year olds will be taught by Monica Bleiler. Bring your enthusiasm, energy and a snack. All materials will be provided unless stated otherwise. Sign up for one class or all.

OCTOBER 29, 2013: Halloween Haunted Houses:  Did you ever wonder if the "little" people such as gnomes, fairies and other woodland creatures celebrate Halloween? Using a variety of materials you can create a special house (spooky or not) that you can take home to put in your yard or woods.

NOVEMBER 11, 2013: Outside Inside:  Using an array of natural materials such as pine cones, sticks, shells, rocks, sea glass, leaves and whatever you would like to bring, you will construct a large, well-planned design which will be photographed to become a printed piece of art to take home. There will also be an opportunity to use these materials to make a smaller, natural collage style of art.

DECEMBER 10, 2013: Holiday Gift Making:  Your own artwork is the perfect gift! Explore different materials, techniques, mediums while making unforgettable presents and gift wraps, all filled with your own inspiration and creativity.

JANUARY 14, 2014: Rock Paper Scissors:  Let's turn rocks of many different sizes and shapes into unique works of art, using such techniques as decoupage, wax painting, and construction. Make a house, a garden decoration or a conversation piece. Your choice!

JANUARY 20, 2014: Winter Wonderland:  What color is winter? It is more than gray and white! Let's use some glitter, sparkle and color to brighten our winter days with some mixed media creations.

FEBRUARY 4: Pop Art Paper Sculptures:  Think 3-D and vivid colors and let your imagination do the rest. You will explore ways to make the colors and shapes that you like come to life with a variety of mixed media. You will be amazed at how much fun paper can be to sculpt such a creation. Feel free to bring along anything you would like to glue onto your creation.

MARCH 11: I SPY Spring Collage:  "I spy with my small eye." Do you love I Spy Books? How about the idea of creating your own poster of hidden everyday objects with a spring theme to welcome the season? See how many objects you can hide and how many can be found!
