A Message from Mr. Foster
Our former Assistant Principal has taken on a new, big challenge as Principal at Eastvalley Elementary in Marietta. We will miss him and we wish him much success!
Dear Nickajack Families,
I just wanted to take a moment to extend my gratitude to all of the Nickajack community for the honor and privilege of serving as your Assistant Principal for the past four years. Right from the very start on my first day on the job in the fall of 2011, the families in this community welcomed me and made me feel right at home. Prior to arriving at Nickajack, I had been at a different school each year for the previous four years, and really had not had the chance to fully connect with the communities I worked in. To be able to stay at Nickajack over the next four years and see our students, your children, improve their learning and achievement, as well as become involved in the community events, was quite an honor. I truly enjoyed getting to know our families and working closely with each of them. Smyrna is such a thriving community that genuinely supports the public school system, and I was so impressed by the contributions our PTA, Foundation, Fathers Being Involved, and other parent volunteers made to enhance the learning experiences at the school.
Also, words can't even justify how talented the teachers and support staff are at Nickajack. They truly have a heart for kids and it was an incredible experience working with them and learning from them each day. Of course, the opportunity of working along Mrs. Lloyd and Mr. Hooker was a benefit beyond measure. Any success I had achieved in anything was due to the support of the amazing administrative team that I was a part of and I can't thank either of them enough for allowing me to learn from them and work closely with them on a daily basis. I also have known Loretta Tennison and Ginger McDowell through my experiences at Nickajack and their expertise will be valuable additions to the school this year. Nickajack will certainly continue to thrive under Mrs. Lloyd's leadership and guidance!
I want to thank all of you that I have contacted me to wish me well! I am truly humbled by your kind words and your encouragement since being appointed as the Principal at Eastvalley Elementary. Leaving Nickajack was very difficult and bittersweet, but I am very excited about this new challenge ahead of me.
Serving this community was an incredible experience that I will always take with me and I sincerely appreciate everything that our Nickajack families have done for me! Thank you and I wish the students, staff, and families of Nickajack the very best this school year!

Summer Reading Challenge Update
Summer break is over, but not the Challenge!
The Nickajack students have read and logged over 231,000 minutes as of August 6th! Last year our readers finished with just over 114,000 minutes and placed 4th in the state. The competition is tough this year, but our kids have inched into 3rd place in the state as of today, and are hovering around 144th in the country. Wow, go Nickajack!
Keep your students reading every day and logging their minutes, the Challenge ends September 4th.
