The PTA Scholastic BOGO Book Fair is here!
Volunteers Needed Tues-Fri, May 12th -15th
 Opens tomorrow morning, Wednesday: It is time for our final book fair of the year, the Buy One, Get One FREE Bookfair! Located in the Media Center, you can buy 1 book or item and the 2nd book or item of equal or lesser value is free! Buy 2, get 2 free! This is the perfect time to stock up on summer reading and gifts for all ages. Flyers are coming home shortly. More Volunteers Needed: As always, we will need many volunteers to make this a success, and we have AM and PM time slots available. Please click Book Fair Volunteer Sign Up to view slots and to sign up. The fair will be open only 3 days, the shopping hours are: May 13: Wednesday: 7:20 am - 2 pm May 14: Thursday: 7:20 am - 6 pm May 15: Friday: 7:20am - 11:30 am New this fair: Parents are welcome to shop during school hours (without your student). Students will be able to shop the book fair during the school day either with their class, or individually as classroom time permits per the teacher. Please be sure you send a note with your child when you send money if you want them to be able to shop, and place money in a baggie so that your child can safely store their money before and after they shop.

PTA Pal: Los Bravos Spirit Night
Yearbook Signing Party at Los Bravos, Thurs. May 14th
The yearbooks are here! Come pick up your pre-ordered yearbook and have the "best fajitas" in town at our PTA Pal Los Bravos Restaurant on Thursday, May 14 from 5pm-7pm. We look forward to a great night of laughs and great food with friends!
Be sure to sign in for Nickajack as 10% of all sales will go back to your PTA. Los Bravos is located in the Highland Station Shopping Plaza next to Publix off the East West Connector & S. Cobb Drive.
Forgot to order a yearbook? There will be some extra copies available on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. The cost is $30/book CASH ONLY.
If you cannot make it to the event, you or your child can pick up your pre-ordered yearbook in the Nickajack Lobby on Friday, May 15th from 7:30-8:00am or after school from 1:45-2:30pm. All pre-ordered yearbooks that are not picked up on Thursday or Friday will be sent home in your child's book bag on Monday, May 18.
Any extra books will also be sold in the lobby for $30 CASH.
A second yearbook signing party will also take place on Tuesday, May 19th from 5-8pm at Chick-Fil-A on South Cobb Drive (near the new Kroger). The Nickajack Braves Chorus will be performing so please join us! |
The Summer Reading Challenge Has Begun
Read on myOn and log your minutes!
Nickajack Students can read ALL summer long on myON!! The minutes your children read on myON can be logged as part of their time reading for the Scholastic Summer Reading Program. To read on myON, go to: www.myon.com and click the red login now button. Students know to choose Nickajack as their school. Student User Name is their Student ID# and their password is read. Students have been provided a log-in and password for the Reading Challenge, and can log their minutes at: Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. Students that set a goal and turn in their pledge to Mrs. Jeter by May 21st are eligible to win prizes if they reach their goal this summer! |

Young Authors and Illustrators Club 2015-16
Forms due this Friday, May 15th
For rising 4th and 5th graders: "The idea to write and illustrate a bestseller can be cultivated long before adulthood!" One of our after school enrichment programs, The Young Authors Club, is now taking applications for the upcoming school year. This is a wonderful program for those rising 4th and 5th graders who enjoy writing, and even illustrating!

FBI Reading Day - Next Wednesday, May 20th
More Dads are needed, 7:45am-8:15am
Attention all FBI Dads! Our last FBI (Fathers Being Involved) Reading Day will be on Wednesday, May 20th. This is the second to last day of school! Like always, we will begin gathering in the front lobby from 7:20 am and we will go read to every classroom at 7:50 am. Our goal is to have a dad in EVERY classroom! We anticipate that reading will be completed by 8:15am.

Year End Policy for Cafeteria Meals
NO charging of meals for negative accounts
There will be NO charging of meals (breakfast or lunch) for negative accounts allowed during the last two weeks of school (5/11 -5/21).
Please make sure there is money in your child's cafeteria account through the last day of school. If your child does not have money on his or her account, or has exceeded their charge amount ($-6.45), they will receive an alternate meal of a cheese sandwich and milk. |

Plan Ahead: Early Release May 20 & 21
School Day ends early Wed & Thurs
Cobb County Schools will have early release on the last 2 days of school, May 20th and May 21st.
On Wednesday, Nickajack will release at 12:10pm. On Thursday, the 5th Grade Walk of Honor will begin at 12 noon, and release will be immediately following.
ASP begins immediately following release, and is available until 6pm both days.
Thursday, May 21st, is the last day of school. |
