Mentor a Child, Make a World of Difference
Cobb Mentoring Matters Meeting February 26th
Nickajack needs YOU, parents who really want to help make a difference in a child's life. Have you ever wanted to help someone else know they matter? Then this may be the perfect opportunity for YOU!
Your involvement can and will have a domino effect and your child and others will benefit too. Please consider this opportunity for the good of our WHOLE community.
Cobb Mentoring Matters is hosting a mentor orientation right here in our community Thursday, February 26, 6:00-7:30PM here at Nickajack, and we are inviting you to take the next step to changing a child's life.
Attending this orientation allows us to pair willing mentors with the young people who need them.
If you or someone you know would make a great mentor - friend, neighbor, relative, male or female, from college aged to retirees - please help us make sure this invitation is put to use.
A few seconds is all it takes to tell us you are. Please click Cobb Mentoring Survey to answer these few questions:
- Interested and will attend Thursday, 2/26, 6pm-7:30pm at NES
- Interested but unable to make this one, please tell me of others
- Not able to participate at this time, but thank you
- Not able myself, but I am referring someone else
You may have heard the old African Proverb "It takes a village to raise a child." This could not be truer in today's society. The challenges that our youth face today make it critically necessary for all of us to get involved and make an impact. Please thoughtfully consider this opportunity. YOU may just help shape a future president!
Thank you so much for helping to make a world of difference.

Join us for Fine Arts Night March 5th
Featuring Chorus Performance, Art Work, And Brief PTA Meeting
Join us Thursday, March 5th, between 4pm-7pm, to hear the Nickajack Chorus perform and to check out your student's framed art work! Support our NES Art Department by purchasing the framed art work of your student, for $25 each, cash or check. This is the only time you will be able to purchase the art work.
Relay for Life Hot Dog Dinner will be available starting at 5pm.
There will be a brief PTA meeting around 6pm to discuss playground improvement.
There will be a vote held regarding a budget amendment allowing us to direct PTA resources to improving the back playground area. Some SPLOST money will address the climbing equipment this summer, but nothing more. We are working to leverage as many resources as possible from sponsors and donors to greatly improve the aesthetic and usable space, and we even intend to launch a Brickajack Campaign- selling personalized bring on campus, including the playground- as a means to replenish our expeditures on the playground improvements. We do not expect the amount needed to exceed $20K, it might be closer to $13.5K, however if we have approval to work with contractors within the higher range, it will give us more latitude to improve the space in a way that will vastly improve the outdoor experiences for our children.
This hardworking, dedicated committee is more than happy to field questions and listen to feedback - we'd also love to have additional volunteers willing to help move earth, if necessary - thanks so much!
PTA Co-President, Seth Rubenstein
