Classroom Challenge: Jan. 6th - Jan. 22nd

This year Nickajack Elementary will be partnering with Alive Ministries, Inc. to help meet the needs of students & their families right here in Cobb County.  Alive Ministries establishes food pantries within Title 1 schools around the county that have a large density of children living in poverty. We hope that you will join as we challenge each homeroom to collect 100 cans or boxes of food by the 100th day of school (January 22nd).

We believe that in addition to helping meet the needs of children in our community, this campaign will teach our students that there are other children who live near us that are in need and that we can make a difference in the lives of these children. Our goal is to teach each student at Nickajack Elementary that no matter how large or small their contribution to the campaign is, when we work together and each does our part we can make a big difference. We want each child to walk away from the campaign feeling like they have made a difference in the life of another child.

We are asking each child to assist their homeroom in collecting 100 cans or boxes of food by bringing in 1 can or box of food each week from now until the 100th day of school (January 22nd). On the 100th day of school, we will bring together all the food that each homeroom has collected so they can see the difference that they have made.  It will give the students a great sense of accomplishment! Click here for the list of ideal donations and a copy of the letter going home with students this week. Thank you in advance for your support!

Angel Tree Recap

Thank you for your support of the Angel Tree Program!  Through your generosity, we raised over $3,200 dollars in gift cards!  Your donations made the holiday season of 30 of our Nickajack families a little brighter.

A special thank you to two of our students, Ben Childs and Everett Park.  In lieu of birthday presents this year, they asked for donations for the Angel Tree.  We couldn't be more proud of the selfless and giving spirit of these two boys!
