F.B.I Reading Day: Volunteers Needed
Friday, December 12th

Nickajack "Fathers Being Involved" is a group of dads and other male role models that take time to volunteer at the school to support the learning environment for all students.  We have three more FBI Reading Days throughout the year where we place a father in every classroom in the school to read a book to students from 7:45-8:15 a.m.

We will have our next FBI Reading Day on
Friday, December 12th.  Additional FBI Reading Days will be held on March 2nd, and May 11th.

If you would like to volunteer to read to a classroom or receive more information about being involved with the Nickajack FBI, please contact Kendall Foster at the school by phone

Thank you and we are looking forward to seeing our dads in full force on Friday, December 12th!
Nickajack's Angel Tree
Begins Wednesday, December 3rd

It's time again for the annual "Angel Tree" at Nickajack.  Each year students, staff and community members sponsor
angel tree families in need during the holiday season.  Please assist us in helping these families in our school community by allowing your child(ren) to select an Angel(s) from the Angel Tree.

To participate and learn more about the Nickajack Angel Tree, please see the December Smoke Signals or click here for the school counseling blog.
PTA Holiday Grams & Volunteers Needed

Students, parents, and staff can send a note to their friends and teachers who attend Nickajack.  Each note will be tied to a holiday pencil and cost $1.00.  Parents can buy for a whole class, we can fill out all notes for you and get the class roster from the front office.  Notes will be delivered on Friday, December 19th.  All proceeds go back to your PTA. Cash or check is accepted.

We also are in need of volunteers to assist with the sales in the front lobby.  Please click here to sign up to volunteer.

GIVE to NESF for the Teacher Grant Program!
End-of-the-year donations needed!

All of the Teacher Grant proposals are in! Our teachers have researched incredible ideas to enhance their classrooms. In the past, all approved requests would be funded by NESF, but because we didn't meet our BACK THE JACK goal this year, we are approximately $5,000 short.

Without additional funds, we will have to turn down some of the 15 grant requests we have received. Some examples of the outstanding grant ideas proposed include: iPad minis for the Media Center, Lucy Calkins Writing Curriculum, Rekenrek Math Fluency Tools, Visual Tools for Pre-K and others!

or by check in the black box (yellow envelope) made out to "Nickajack Elementary School Foundation."

HURRY - all donations must be in by 12/9 as we are awarding grants on 12/12!
