Thank You To Outstanding Parent Volunteers
Volunteers recognized for 1st quarter

Nickajack truly appreciates having many involved parents that make a difference for our school and students. Here are the nominees recognized this past week for Outstanding Parent Volunteer for the 1st quarter.

Beth Park joined the Nickajack Foundation as Vice President this year. Her ideas have been numerous including bringing apples to the curriculum night to remind parents to Back the Jack to fun ways to enhance the Great Skate.  She is always willing to jump in and help out whether it involves copying, sorting, selling tickets or standing in the carpool line.  She is also a room parent and works hard to support her classroom.  NIckajack really appreciates her presence and devoted spirit of volunteerism!

Nadia Balyo is an excellent choice to receive this award. While she's always been involved, this year she's gone above and beyond. The amount of work dedication she offered to this year's Nickajack Dash was outstanding. Nadia was responsible for the silent auction portion of the Dash, which required tedious attention to detail and vision and this resulted in one of our best PTA fundraisers yet. It's not just about fundraising and generating donations, it's about having the discipline to make the auction function properly. You can have a hundred great items to auction, but if the logistics aren't in place, it won't matter. That's where Nadia excels and makes a difference. She executes every last detail and does it with a smile on her face.

Nadia also spends many hours as a dedicated room mom for her two daughters, works in the copy shop and just chaperoned the third grade field trip to the Tellus Museum with three classes. If she's asked to help, she will... always, and for that, the value she adds to the school cannot go unrecognized!  Thank you Nadia!

Holly Rasmovich goes above and beyond in the classroom. She organized our super fun fall centers, creates a monthly newletter for parents, organized a meet and greet, and makes sign-ups for mystery reader, snacks, copying and cutting. We are so thankful for all she does.  Nickajack Elementary is a better place with devoted volunteers such as yourself!

Laurel Jefferis volunteered to attend a training so that she could assist Nurse Tiffany in screening the hearing and vision of every 1st and 4th grade student.  She is the one and only volunteer and quickly screens our students.  She has devoted weeks of her time to serve our school.  This allows nurse Tiffany to be in the clinic serving students that need medical attention.  Thank you Ms. Jefferis for you unselfish devotion to the Nickajack students!

Caroline Taylor is in her second year as our PTA Treasurer and she must be recognized for the outstanding job of keeping our financials in tip top shape!  She works full time and has three very active young boys, one still at home y

et she manages to keep all of the financials up to date and get all the expenses, especially teacher reimbursements done in a timely fashion.  Thank you Caroline for your dedicated service!

Heidi Rosen volunteers both in the classroom and in the front office on a regular basis.  Her assistance in the front office was greatly appreciated both in the days prior to school starting and after the first day.   She is also very active in PTA and always available to jump in when needed.  She has conducted the monthly school tours for the last two months and is incredibly knowledgeable in all areas.  No task is too big for Heidi - Thank you so much for all your hours you have put in to the school.  The Nickajack community appreciates you!

Stefanie Taylor is truly a dedicated volunteer.  This is her second year as copy shop chair and she has spent countless hours after working a full day herself in the work-room taking care of any copies that have not been done due to broken machines during the school day.  There have been many nights she has been at Nickajack after 5 working to get jobs complete.  Not only does she work full time, but she also serves as PTSA Secretary at Griffin Middle School. Volunteering is truly in her heart. Thank you Stefanie for your committed service to our students and schools.

Daniel Parker and Saralee Parker

A BIG Thank You to Daniel Parker for going above and beyon

d for Nickajack Elementary School. Daniel has been an outstanding parent volunteer at Nickajack for several years. Daniel is ever present in the school!  You can see him throughout the halls of the school on any given day lending a helping hand. In addition, Daniel is the Recycling Committee Chair for the 2014-2015 school year. The school needed large bins to be able to continue our recycling program and the bins that we needed were coming at a high cost. Daniel took the initiative to talk to people in the community to try and help the school out. He went to Home Depot and they have since donated all of the 50 gallon recycling bins for Nickajack Elementary School. He also is helping with making the recycling effort more visible with the book fair.  He works hand in hand with our Green Teacher, Ms. Kordel and is always willing to do whatever it takes to make things happen.  He has personally donated tons of time on this effort and money out of his pocket to buy other receptacles to help the school in any way possible to stay green.  He also regularly makes copies for anyone who asks him!  Way to go, Daniel!  We appreciate you and your commitment to Nickajack and for

continuing to care!

Saralee Parker got her company to generously donate two large basket of books again to our NES Dash & Silent Auction and she donated two sets of books to the NES Media Center as well!  She also continues to serve as Co-Chair Room Parent Coordinator.    While this busy full time working mom travels out of town often, she still finds time to pop into NES and help out in her child's classroom and various PTA events.  Thank you Saralee!
