Eagle Scout Project to Benefit Nickajack
Contributions & Volunteers Needed Please

Christian Knox, Nickajack Alumni and Life Scout in Westminster Troop 197 is seeking your support for his Eagle Scout project. Christian is working to improve the outdoor classroom/pavilion which is currently used for both an outdoor science classroom and a meeting place for the Nickajack Gardening Club.

For his project, he is constructing six new picnic tables, a gutter system, and water drainage for the pavilion.  He will connect the down-spouts from the gutters to rain barrels so that the Gardening Club may water their plants with the rain water.  The current tables are in poor condition, so he will be removing those and replacing them with the new tables.

If you would like to contribute:

His entire project will cost a total estimated amount of $800 for materials, supplies, and tools.   He has begun raising funds and is half way toward his goal.  A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has already contributed!  If you would like to donate, your donation is 100% tax deductible - just make your check out to Westminster Boy Scout Troop 197 and write C.K. Eagle Project in the memo field.  Please mail your donation to his home address by Aug. 1st.

If you would like to volunteer:

He estimates the project will require 12- 15 volunteers each day over a period of 4 days. He has scheduled two work days: the first workday will be on Saturday, July 19th and the second work day will be Saturday August 2nd - both will begin at 9:00 a.m.  and will run until 4:00 p.m., unless work is completed early.  The worksite is at Nickajack Elementary School. The pavilion is behind the school.  Lunch will be provided to all volunteers!  Please let him know if you are interested in volunteering your time via email or phone call.

Even with a younger one at home, Kathy has been a faithful volunteer for the Kindness and Compassion K -2nd Grade Club all year long. She dutifully shows up early for every meeting and helps with set-up and escorting the students to the portable classroom. She always has a smile on her face and definitely helps portray our kindness and service message to the students. Kathy always stays to help with student dismissal and clean-up. It has been so wonderful to know that I can always count on Kathy being there to assist with our meetings and service projects, especially with the large group of students this year. Thank you for your amazing efforts this school year!

Jessica Hicks

Whether it's sending out emails, communicating with parents, or planning events Mrs. Hicks is consistently dedicating her time inside and outside of the classroom. Nickajack Elementary has been very fortunate to have a wonderful room-mom involved in the growth of each individual student in the classroom. We couldn't have done it without you. Jessica, thank you for being an amazing room mom!
