Seeking Outstanding Parent Volunteer Nominations
Please submit by March 14th

thank you

Do you know a parent volunteer who goes above and beyond?  Please consider nominating them to be recognized at our 4th Character Assembly in front of their child(ren).  This is a great way to show your appreciation for our wonderful volunteers and for their children to be proud of their parents/guardians.

Research shows that students with involved parents are more likely to:

·         Earn higher grades and test scores

·         Be promoted, pass their classes

·         Attend school regularly

·         Have better social skills

·         Show improved behavior

·         Graduate & attend post-secondary education

So not only do we want to show our appreciation, but we want their children to know that their parent is involved with their education and many of our volunteers do "behind the scene" tasks which their child may not know about.

If you have someone in mind, please submit your parent's name, with a short paragraph describing what the nominee does to make them an outstanding as a volunteer.   If you know the student of the parent, please let us know that too as well as the student's grade/Teacher.  We also need contact information for the parent so that they can be notified in time enough to accommodate the assemblies in their schedules.

Please email your submissions  to our PTA Volunteer Chair, Portia Carter, at pecarter143@gmail.com by March 14, 2014.

Thanks so much for taking the time to recognize those parents who continue to go above and beyond what is expected.

Results, we did it!

children-reading.jpg

The final results are in! On Friday February 28th students from all across our country took AR quizzes in an effort to break the record for the most quizzes taken in one school day. The record had been set at 4,409,622.

The new record is, 4,987,949 quizzes!

Last year Nickajack students took 723 AR quizzes. This year our students took, 762 quizzes on Friday! So, we now have a new record at Nickajack! In order for your quiz to be counted, you must pass the quiz, that is important to remember.

The class that took the most quizzes is Ms. McDonald's class. Her students took and passed 68 quizzes!!!!

2nd place goes to Ms. Newman's students who took and passed 55 quizzes!

And 3rd place goes to Ms. Butler's class, they took and passed 50 quizzes!

Now, the student that took the most quizzes on Friday was Savannah Trumble in Ms. Cochran's class. She took and passed 17 quizzes in one day!

Great job everyone that helped us beat the record from last year!
