 5th grade ONLY! 2014 Field Day t-shirt Orders due on Thursday, Feb. 6th.
Please place CASH payment into a white schoolpayment envelope & drop into a black box with the order form inside.
A separate order form for each student is needed. Each grade will have a separate deadline to order a field day t-shirt.
This is the ONLY opportunity to order a field day t-shirt for 5th Grade. These shirts will also be used for the 5th grade field trip to Birmingham in March.
No late orders will be accepted. All sales are final. No exchanges will be be made.

Due to Snow, Yearbook Deadline Extended
Last Chance to Order Yearbook: Fri., Feb. 7th!
Due to school closing last week, the yearbook deadline has been extended to Feb. 7, so there is still week left to get your NES 2013/14 Yearbook. The yearbook is $34 and can be ordered online at
Remember, if your child wants a yearbook in May, it MUST BE ORDERED before the Friday, Feb. 7 deadline! NO ORDERS
will be taken after this date & the website will be inactive.
Yearbook distribution and signing will take place at Los Bravos in May, so DON'T DELAY, ORDER YOUR NES YEARBOOK TODAY!
The yearbook committee is also seeking classroom photos for all grade levels for the 2-page spread. If you want your classroom represented, please upload your photo using www.replayit.com and the password Braves13. You can also download the free REPLAYIT app on your smartphone, and send photos right from your phone, again using the Braves13 password.

Nickajack Dash - Volunteers Needed and...
Register by Feb. 7th!
***PTA Nickajack Dash- Saturday, March 1 at 9am*** Registration Forms were sent home in your child's red Tuesday Folder. Please return them to school by Feb. 7th!! The 1.5 mile run will begin in the back parking lot at 9am and travel around the school towards the Silver Comet Trail. Winners from all grade level will be announced and awarded a prize. Bounce houses, Book Fair and Silent Auction to follow the Dash. ***PTA Silent Auction will be after the Dash*** Here is a sample of some of our great items that will be at the auction:

Get informed to help protect our kids' education! 
Cobb County Schools are facing major budget cuts. It is imperative that you learn more about this issue to help school officials make decisions that are right for our kids!
Here's what you can do:
Get Informed:
- LIKE the"Face it Cobb" page on Facebook
- Go to www.shoestringcampaign.com and follow the steps to contact your state legislators
Call and write your legislators:
- Call State Senator Horacena Tate (404-463-8053) and State Representative Rich Golick (404-656-5943) and tell them you are concerned that the budget shortfall will negatively impact your child's education. Then please ask them to better fund public education and give kids what they deserve.

English Language Arts Adoption System Wide Review
Opportunity to Review and Give Feedback through Feb. 7th
The Cobb County School District ELA Adoption Committee is offering a system wide review of materials. This is an opportunity to review textbooks and materials being considered for use in K-5 English Language Arts Programs.
These materials will be available for System wide review from January 27th through February 7th, 2014.
Review of materials will take place at the following Elementary Schools:
Area 1 Powder Springs
Area 2 Teasley
Area 3 Mount Bethel
Area 4 Blackwell
Area 5 Due West
Feedback forms will be available at the site and this information will be included in the data to help the committee make the best possible recommendation.

CCSD now has purchased this software for the county. Nickajack does not have a separate subscription any longer. Parents & Teachers need to go to the Cobb Digital Library on the main CCSD website page. Simply click on the logo to the right and you will be re-directed.

WHERE: Nickajack Gym
Please come out and support our visual art students. All students in kindergarten through fifth grade will have their artwork framed and on display for all to see. You may come and view the work and if you would like to take your child's artwork home in a frame you may purchase the art! Each framed art piece that is sold will provide the funds to order art supplies for the classroom.
We hope to see you at our spectacular event!
Our Relay for Life Team will be having a Fund Raiser Dinner to benefit The American Cancer Society beginning at 5:30 p.m.
