Parent Volunteer Nominations Needed

 Deadline: November 15, 2013

Do you know a parent volunteer who goes above and beyond?  Please consider nominating them to be recognized at our 2nd Character Assembly in front of their child(ren).  This is a great way to show your appreciation for our wonderful volunteers and for their children to be proud of their parents/guardians.

You all may know this, but just in case....

Research shows that students with involved parents are more likely to:

·        Earn higher grades and test scores

·        Be promoted, pass their classes

·        Attend school regularly

·        Have better social skills

·        Show improved behavior

·        Graduate & attend post-secondary education

So not only do we want to show our appreciation, but we want their children to know that their parent is involved with their education and many of our volunteers do "behind the scene" tasks which their child may not know about.

If you have someone in mind, please submit your parent's name, with a short paragraph describing what the nominee does to make them an outstanding as a volunteer.   If you know the student of the parent, please let us know that too.

Please email your submissions by November 15, 2013 to our PTA Volunteer Chair, Portia Carter at pecarter143@gmail.com

Thanks so much for taking the time to recognize those parents who continue to go above and beyond what is expect

The art was judged by 3 local artists who were very impressed with the level of talent represented in these works of art. The following talented artists' work have advanced to the Jessye Coleman Council where they will undergo another round of judging before advancing to the state level.  Please join me in congratulating the following artists for their participation, hard work, and success:
