Seeking School Council Nominations
Nomination Forms Due By Friday, Sept. 27th
Meeting
The Nickajack ES School Council is actively seeking new parent members.  A school council functions as an advisory body, offering recommendations and assistance to the school principal and whenever appropriate, the superintendent and Cobb County Board of Education on any matter relating to student achievement and school improvement.  We are entertaining nominations for two parents.  If you are interested, nomination forms are in the school office and is also available here online.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Sept. 27th.  Prior to nominating a candidate, it's a good idea to touch base with the prospective nominee to ensure that he/she desires to run for the position.

The person nominated will need to submit a biography along with a photograph to the office staff for posting by Wed. Oct. 2nd.  The nominations will posted along with bios and photos of the candidates so that parents will be knowledgeable about the nominees prior to voting.  Voting will take place Monday, Oct. 21st through Friday, Oct. 25th during normal school hours.  Ballots will be available in the front office and all ballots will be placed in a locked ballot box.

Please complete the attached nomination form and submit to Beth Smith, School Secretary, in the front office by Friday, Sept. 27th.

Yellow Tags on Students' Book bags
Student Safety Measure

Last year, the Cobb County Schools Department of Transportation developed and implemented an initiative for all students ages 8 and under to have a yellow tag attached to their bookbags.  The purpose of the yellow tag is for bus drivers to ensure that younger students are meeting an adult at the bus stop as they get off the bus each afternoon. If the bus driver does not see the student with a yellow tag meeting an adult, then they will bring the student back to the school as a safety and security measure.  The yellow tags are to be left blank in order not to divulge any confidential information about the child.  Thank you for your support to continue to ensure the safety of all students at Nickajack.

If you have any questions about the yellow transportation tags, please contact the Department of Transportation at 678-594-8000.
