Calling All Parent Volunteers!
Copier and Laminator Tips and Tricks
Tues. 8/27 and Wed. 8/28, 9:30am
Helping Others
The Nickajack staff and faculty would like to thank all of the Parent Volunteers for their much needed assistance with copying and laminating.

We understand that the machines have been difficult to operate and they have made your job of helping us that much harder.    If you are being asked to make copies by your child's teacher, please try to make one of the sessions to learn about tips and tricks for making your task easier.

Please meet in the work room either morning at 9:30 am.  The session should be no more than 30 minutes.

Again, we thank all of you for volunteering your time to help us!

Questions?  Please contact School Secretary, Beth Smith in the front office at 678-842-5814.

Chess 2 Children
Filling the World with Knowledge...One Child at a Time

chess

Playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance. Additionally, chess has been shown to augment problem-solving capabilities, provide cultural enrichment, advance intellectual maturity, and enhance self-esteem... qualities that we all desire for our children.

Chess2Children (PTA Pal) is, once again (this is our 8th year!), offering an after-school Chess Club, coordinated with local school and/or PTA officials.  Children will meet after school for 60 minutes.  All clubs follow their respective County School calendar (no meetings on holidays, early release, etc.).   We will have our Beginner & Intermediate classes on Wednesday and another Intermediate and Advanced classes on Friday.   Start dates will be Sept. 11th for the Wednesday classes and Sept. 13th for the Friday classes.   Please sign up by Sept. 5th.  Chess club fills up fast, so please register soon!

Tuition:

The Fall Session will include 10 classes, with a tuition of $120 (In the Spring, we will offer 14 total classes, with a tuition of $165..However, if paid for the year, tuition will be $270).  We will offer a 5% sibling discount.  Portion of tuition given to PTA!  Payments must be made prior to the start of enrollment.

Vote for NES for Target

This year, Target will give money to schools all over the country for one simple act: a vote.

Our school needs just 25 votes to earn a $25 donation from Target. But that's only the beginning. For each additional vote, our school will get $1 more.

So please remember that, although the gesture is small, the rewards are potentially huge. Go to GiveWith.Target.com to vote for Nickajack Elementary School once a week through September 21 or until Target has given away all $5 million.  Please share with all your friends on Facebook and Twitter too!

One man's trash is another man's treasure...
It's ART time!

Art is critical to a well-rounded education.  It stimulates the imagination, helps develop critical thinking skills, and plays a role in social-emotional development.  Convinced?  Help us bring art to life at Nickajack Elementary with a donation of...well, things you would normally throw in the trash or stash in your pantry!  Please leave all bagged items in the main office for Ms. Bonodonna.
