NEW Car Rider Procedures in the Morning

This year, Nickajack students that are car riders in the morning will be dropped off at the front sidewalk of the school.  There will be 4-5 staff members there to assist students getting out of cars.

The car rider line goes toward the back of the school by the cafeteria and then moves toward the front sidewalk. PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF ANY STUDENTS IN THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL OR IN THE BUS LANE.

Parents may park their car in the front lot and walk their child into the school.  If you choose to park, then you may exit the school in the secondary left lane at the front without getting back in the car rider line.  All drivers should be aware of families crossing the parking lot to enter the school each morning.

This new procedure was proposed by the Department of Public Safety in order to absorb the traffic off of Mavell and Cooper Lake, as well as to assist more students in cars at one time.

Car riders in the afternoon will still be picked up by the cafeteria in the back of the school.

Thank you for your help in transitioning to this new system.

Summer Reading Challenge
Four More Weeks to Log Reading Times!
summer challenge

As of August 11th, Nickajack students have logged over 56,000 minutes in the Scholastic Summer Challenge!

Currently we are in the top 10% of over 3200 schools participating around the country! Let's try to finish up the summer in the top 3 schools for Georgia by having all of our students log all of their reading minutes!

The Challenge does not end until September 6th, so keep reading and logging your minutes!  Top readers from our current grades will be awarded Gift Certificates to our Fall Book Fair.

It isn't too late for students to start logging their minutes! Use the free, handy, and easy Scholastic Reader Timer app to track minutes, or go to www.scholastic.com/summer . Paper log sheets can also be used as well, and we will collect these at the conclusion of the Challenge in early September.
