Summer Reading Challenge

summer challenge

Nickajack students are #8 in Georgia and we are in the top 11% in the country!

As of July 15, Nickajack students have logged 37,529 minutes in the Scholastic Summer Challenge!  This puts us in the top 11% of all schools participating across the country!  Don't forget that students participating in local library reading programs can log those minutes with Scholastic as well.

Our 5 classes with the most minutes so far: Nelson, Taylor, McDonald, Newman, and Dills.

It isn't too late for students to start logging their minutes! Use the free, handy, and easy Scholastic Reader Timer app to track and log minutes during this busy summer, or go to www.scholastic.com/summer

Paper log sheets can also be used as well, and we will collect these at the conclusion of the Challenge in early September.

Let's fight the 'Summer Slide' by encouraging our students to read all summer and log their minutes for a friendly competition!

All NES students are encouraged to participate, and top readers of our current K-4 grades will receive gift certificates to our fall book fair.  The top 20 schools with the most summer reading minutes will be featured in the Scholastic Book of World Records 2014!

Contact kim.trumble1@gmail.com or katyweihe@gmail.com with questions.
