Smyrna Eye Group
Sunglass & Sport Eye Wear Fair, Sat. April 27th,
11am -2pm

"Excellence In Eye Care" is more than just a slogan; for Smyrna Eye Group, it's our mission, and it's our way of letting you know that you will receive the best in eye and vision care.

Dr. Mel Weiss, Dr. Sean Harper, Dr. Steve Bowser, Dr. Barbara Riemer and Dr. Jason Brody diagnose and treat a wide range of vision and eye health problems. Our warm, friendly staff assists you in selecting the best eyeglasses or contact lenses for your specific needs based on a comprehensive eye examination to determine your correction.

As the weather warms up, you'll want to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Smyrna Eye Group is sponsoring a Sunglass and Sport Eye Wear Fair on Saturday, April 27, from 11am to 2pm.

Please stop by to see  the latest styles in eye wear for active lifestyles... or even if you just want to look good sunning by the pool. Representatives from some of the hottest eye wear lines will be on hand to answer your questions. There will be door prizes and refreshments too.

Smyrna Eye Group is located at 4280 East-West Connector near the intersection of South Cobb Drive (next door to Racetrac). We're open Monday from 8:45am to 5:30pm, Tuesday thru Friday from 8am to 5:30pm, and Saturday from 8am to 2pm.

Outstanding Parent Volunteers Recognized

thank you The following parents were recently recognized in front of their children as outstanding parent volunteers.  Please join us in congratulating and thanking these folks for being so generous with their time and talents!

Sara Young

Sara Young is a very active parent at Nickajack! She is a room parent in both of her children's classes. She makes copies, reads to the class, assists the classes with projects and plans parties and much more. She is a reliable volunteer anytime the PTA needs help and  you probably saw her smiling face during registration, sneak a peek, open house and the book fair.  We thank Sara for all of her time and dedication to our school!

Kim Trumble

Kim Trumble has been an amazing volunteer, not only in our classroom, but throughout the entire school. She did a tremendous job running the book fair! In our classroom, she is our room parent. She is so enthusiastic about helping with everything we need! She makes sure that our classroom has all the supplies we need and coordinates all of our classroom events. She is always willing to help out and has been an amazing volunteer! We can't thank her enough!

Wes Bunkley

Mr. Bunkley is an outstanding parent volunteer.  He often comes to Nickajack to eat lunch with his daughter, Charlotte.  He volunteers in our Mystery Reader Program (which involves coming to school on Wednesdays at 8am with a pre-selected book and breakfast treat) and reads to my class.  The Bunkleys are always willing to send in any of the supplies our class needs.  Mr. Bunkley has a good relationship with all of the students in class and they look forward to his visits.  Also, Mr. Bunkley often works in the media center shelving books.

Danielle Rupp and Panchetta Harris

Danielle Rupp and Panchetta Harris are outstanding volunteers.  They do such a great job with the kids for AR each week and are willing to help out in the classroom with centers and activities.    They are both very dedicated and committed to the kids they serve.  Both are very encouraging and positive role models for the students.

Renee Kovach

Renee Kovach is a tremendous asset to this school.  She was a key player in the preparation and running of the DASH and worked tirelessly to make the event such a success.  She is also spearheading the BoxTop drive which brings in much needed money to our school.  Thanks Renee for all you do!

Rakale Quarells

Rakale Quarells is faithfully here every Thursday to run copies for Mrs. Taylor. She takes time out of her busy schedule as an Associate Professor of Community Health and Preventive Medicine; and Associate Director, Cardiovascular Research Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. Her job is extremely demanding, yet she finds the time to volunteer in her daughter's class. I would be lost without her.

Renee LaPrade

Renee LaPrade is an outstanding parent volunteer.  Mrs. LaPrade's four children all attend NES, and she takes an active role at our school.  She assists with Jogging Club and Garden Club.  Mrs. LaPrade also takes time out of her busy schedule to help make copies once a week.

Allyson Balzuweit

Alyson Balzuweit is a great room parent.  She helps out in the classroom each week with AR and she also volunteers to help out with centers and activities when needed.  She always volunteers to bring in any supplies we need for activities and has even volunteered to help us plan foods to make for our Food Truck Friday lessons.  She did a great job making the Nickajack Dash a success.  She is definitely an outstanding parent here at Nickajack.   Allyson is a wonderful parent and Nickajack is lucky to have her.

Beth Figaretti

Beth Figaretti is such a great volunteer and can always be counted on when needed.  She helps each week with AR in the classroom.  She also sends in any supplies we need for activities and centers.  Beth has  frequently taking centers and other activities home to make for the class.  She volunteers to come in and teach very hands-on science lessons to the students.  She did a great job making the Nickajack Dash so successful. She is an outstanding parent volunteer.

Molly Talanczuk

We would like to recognize a volunteer  who has been in her role for the at least the last 3 years.  For all the PTA and even some of the Foundation events, this parent volunteer who works full time and travels, coordinates the volunteer sign ups.   She does it all behind the scenes while working a very demanding job and juggling two students here at Nickajack.  She also coordinates the outstanding parent volunteer recognition.  Since volunteering is the heart of PTA, her willingness to do this position is invaluable!  Thank you Molly Talanczuk!!!
