Seeking  Volunteers  Please

Dads Read, March 1st, 7:30 am

 

Dad's ReadCalling all dads and men!  In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America, we will have male volunteers reading in each class.

 

On this morning, our men meet in the front lobby of the school between 7:30 and 7:45 and then are assigned a class to read to at 8:00.

PTA Spring Auction opens on Friday, March 1st 2:00 - 6:00 and continues on to the morning of the DASH.  The auction will be open for it's final 2 hours on March 2, 9:00 - 11:00 AM following the Dash.

 

 

There will be over $10,000 worth of items available in the auction.

Scholastic Book Fair is the most-loved and best-known venue for motivating our kids to read more!  Proceeds from our book fairs support our Nickajack classroom resources, such as Common Core Library Packs, Dictionaries, Almanacs, our Principal's Book of the Month program, and more!

Saturday March 2  9:30a-12noon

Monday  March 4  7:20-7:50a  and  2:20-4p

Tuesday March 5   7:20-7:50a  and 2:20-6pm

Wed & Thurs March 6-7  7:20-7:50a   and 2:20-4pm

Purchases at the fair in the school are tax-free. Cash and credit cards are accepted, and checks can be written to NES PTA.

 

Teacher Wish Lists-You can contribute to your student's classroom by purchasing a book on the teacher's wish list, please visit this display at the fair. The teachers greatly appreciate your contributions!

 

All For Books - Please donate your loose change during our All for Books collection.  These donations will be used to purchase books for our NES students in need. Scholastic will also match our total for a contribution to additional non-profit groups.

PTA Dash - Volunteers Still Needed
Sat. March 2nd, 9 am

Still not too late to run!

 

If you did not pre-register then you can receive a race number on the morning of the DASH for $10.

 

This year, the race beings in the back of the school in the carpool line.  Park in the bus lanes or in front of the school and come on back for the start of the race at 9:00!  Winners from each grade level will be announced at 10:00.  Door prizes will also be given out at this time.  So come celebrate all morning with your NES friends! There will be free food and jumpies for all!    

 
Still Need Dash Volunteers!


We need still volunteers.  If you're coming to the DASH please sign up for a volunteer spot on the link below.   We need a team of willing people to serve in various roles (food prep, auction supervision, jumpie supervision, race course monitors, and more!)  

 

You can still run the DASH and find a time to serve!  Thank you in advance!

Advanced Voting

Early voting runs through March 15 at the Cobb Board of Elections office, 736 Whitlock Ave. 30064 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The elections office is the only site open for voting at this time. However, from March 11-15 additional sites throughout the county will be open for early voting. 

 

Open March 11-15:

  • East Cobb Government Service Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta, 30068-4233. Hours 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • South Cobb Community Center, 620 Lions Club Drive, Mableton, GA 30126- 2438. Hours 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Northstar Church, 3413 Blue Springs Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144-1082. Hours 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Boots Ward Recreation Center, Lost Mountain Park, 4845 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs 30127-4486. Hours 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Cobb Elections Main Office, 736 Whitlock Ave., (West Park Government Center) Marietta, 30064-4663 NOTE: Hours 8:00am to 5:00pm 

No voting will take place on March 18On March 19, all 153 Cobb County precincts will be open for voting.

 

The current Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, will expire Dec. 31, 2013. A referendum to extend the building program for five years is being proposed via SPLOST 4.
