Spring  After School Enrichment Programs
Registration begins Monday, January 14th

after school

Chess

We had had a fantastic Fall session! Our Beginner students learned how all the pieces move, check/checkmate, and some basic strategy. We were very impressed with their progress! Our Intermediate students started to move their game to the next level, with opening, mid and end game tactics/strategy, learning notation, and playing more chess online. Our Advanced class has evolved from playing chess, to becoming very good players! They have analyzed many chess games, working checkmate puzzles, and have been playing more tournament style chess in class.

We look forward to what the Spring will offer. With the amount of returning students, we will have very limited space for all of our classes, so it will be first come, first serve for adding additional students.

Our Friday classes (Intermediate and Advanced) starts 1/11/13.

Our Wednesday classes (Beginners) starts 1/16/13.

All sessions will have 16 classes during the Spring, taking into account holidays, breaks, etc. We will end 5/8/13 for Wednesday and 5/10/13 for Friday classes.

Class fee's remain $40/mo (or 4 classes). We offer a 10% pay in advance of the semester discount if paid in full. In addition to the chess club classes, the Spring will offer many opportunities to play in chess tournaments, primarily in January, February and March. We hope to have many players participating to add to our impressive trophy case at Nickajack Elementary!

Please contact Tarun Ganeriwal for availability at info@chess2children.com or 404-964-1355.

Six Flags Read to Succeed
KIDS:  Earn a free ticket to Six Flags

  Books

Nickajack students will once again have an opportunity to earn a free ticket to Six Flags through reading!

The Read to Succeed program encourages students in grades K-6 to read for fun - outside of normal schoolwork. Students will earn a free ticket by engaging in 6 hours of recreational reading. They may read anything - books, magazines, newspapers, etc. - not associated with schoolwork, no textbooks for example.

Reading logs went home in your child's red Tuesday folder.

Student logs are due back to their teachers by Monday, February 25, 2013

If your child did not receive a reading log, please contact your student's teacher.
