If you like veterinary dentistry, then you will want to make sure your Twitter skills are up to date! On
Sunday, October 6th, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Central, veterinary dentists, Dr. Tony Woodard and Dr. Brooke Niemec will be answering questions and providing solid advice LIVE from the AVDC forum in New Orleans! Log onto Twitter that day and use the hashtag
#vetdentistchat to send your questions about equipment, procedures or anything dentistry related!!
And if you are at the AVDC forum...try connecting with Dr. Jim! He is there and would love to say "hi". Just give him a call on
his cell phone! If you have been watching social media recently, you have seen this story being shared over this last week. A
veterinarian in Michigan is reporting that she is also seeing dogs that are presenting to her clinic with the same signs as the dogs that were sick in Ohio last month. As a reminder, there still is NO conclusive evidence (as of today) that the "canine circovirus" is at the root of these issues.
You may remember that VNN has had a long and great friendship with Pets for Patriots, an organization that helps place shelter pets with veterans. Here's another example of how a VNN member, Dr. Patrick Mahaney, is reaching out and helping another non-profit organization, K9s for Warriors, achieve their goals. His
recent blog discusses the efforts to help this group generate the funds they need to train service dogs for military members with PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. Thanks for what you are doing, Dr. M!

VNN member, Dr. Diane Levitan was quoted in a recent VIN article discussing how
some online pet pharmacies are now making automated "recommendations" for prescription drugs based on a client's responses to a survey/questionnaire. What do you think of this story? Is this crossing the line or not?
In a recurring story that won't go away, a
Canadian station recently sent undercover cameras into area veterinary offices and reported that veterinarians were often "gouging" clients. Even though this story may be far away from your location, don't be fooled into thinking that the media won't try this in your hometown. We actually have messaging that addresses the "Cost of Veterinary Care" in our MyVNN library.
CORRECTION: Last week, a link that was supposed to show VNN member, Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore incorrectly went to the George Will article on the Medlen case in Texas. We apologize for this error. For those members who emailed me and want to see Dr. Smith-Blackmore discussing "Puppy Doe", you can
find that interview and story here.
Have you seen a story that you think needs to be shared?? Email a link to me and I will make sure it goes into our social media. From your own blogs to local stories of interest, what is making news in your area may also be beneficial for your fellow VNN members across the country.
