Applications available for 2017 Financial Aid as COMD transitions to focus on parish sustainability
The Commission on Mission and Development is in a season of transition, discernment, and hope with our approach to diocesan financial aid to parishes. Over the past few years, the COMD and other parish and diocesan leaders have been working hard on a number of fronts to move towards greater sustainability for our parishes . . .
During this time of change, we will continue to accept applications for aid using a similar process as in the past. However, in 2017 and beyond, we anticipate that we will be offering less aid to fewer parishes. We encourage parishes seeking aid for 2017 both to apply for the assistance you anticipate needing, and also to begin conversations among your parish leadership about what sustainability and renewal might look like in your context.
Please know that Canon Peggy Bean and the members of the Commission on Mission and Development are available and happy to be resources and conversation partners for you!

Music that Makes Community workshop
There will be a Music that Makes Community workshop in Des Moines, IA, on Thursday, Sept. 29 through Saturday, Oct. 1. "Paperless" music - music taught to the group on the spot - can be wonderful in weekday worship, in outdoor or informal worship, and in work with kids or intergenerational groups. The event will include worship, workshops, and conversation to help you add the valuable tool of paperless song leading to your community's singing practice. Learn practical skills and diverse repertoire, and explore how paperless music can enrich and expand your congregation's repertoire of sung prayer and praise. These workshops often happen in California and New England, but this one is within driving distance and registration is just $100! Talk with Rev. Miranda Hassett if you'd like to hear more about paperless music and how it's used at St. Dunstan's, Madison.
Explore the Music that Makes Community website to learn more.

Prayers for Parishes

The  diocesan Commission on Mission and Development has prepared a cycle of prayers for the congregations of the Diocese of Milwaukee.

July 24, 2016 - St. Peter's, Fort Atkinson
Almighty and everliving God, we thank you for the clergy and people of St. Peter's Church in Fort Atkinson. Holy Spirit we pray that you would draw the people of Fort Atkinson to Yourself; and anoint, inspire and equip St. Peter's for their mission to lead each person into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ, train them as disciples and make Him known to others in their community. All this we ask through Your Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
