In the aftermath of the shooting in Orlando . . . all are invited to an Interfaith Prayer Service at 7:00 pm Thursday, June 16th at All Saints' Cathedral, Milwaukee

The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Genesis 1:1-2
|
[Excerpted from a pastoral letter sent by The Rev. Gary Manning to his Trinity, Wauwatosa congregation]
Our country finds itself, once again, living in the aftermath of an act of horrendous violence, leading to the deaths (as of this morning) of 49 people, and the wounding of over 50 more. The grieving families, friends, and neighbors are inestimable. There is profound grief and profound anger. We are in the early days of the investigation, and it will be some time before a clearer picture emerges as to the motives of the shooter. In the meantime, I would encourage us to remain aware that as Christians, we are called to be people of peace and people of Gospel-inspired actions.
I would also call upon us to take the time to reach out to our friends and family members who are a part of the LGBTQ community to remind them of our love and support. The apparent targeting of LGBTQ persons in this attack is a stark reminder that members of that community remain vulnerable to acts of violence, hatred and discrimination.
I invite anyone whose schedule permits to attend an Interfaith Prayer Service this Thursday evening, June 16th, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of All Saints, 818 East Juneau Avenue, in Milwaukee.
I understand that in times like these praying seems like "not much" in the face of all that is amiss in our world, but I still believe it is through the mystery of prayer we will be led to right actions and wise decisions to follow the Way of Jesus as people of Good News.

by Canon Peggy Bean
The Rev. Oscar Rozo, Priest in Charge at St. Mark's in Beaver Dam and member of the Diocesan multicultural group attended the Ecumenical conference REDIL to discuss Latino/Hispanic ministry and the church a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday at our Multicultural group meeting Oscar was sharing about the conference and how working together with other denominations as well as clergy and lay teams is vital to reaching out into the Latino Hispanic communities. In reviewing his notes from the conference we could all see how the Five Steps outlined in connecting with the community are important to each and every church period!

June 19, 2016 - St. Alban's, Sussex
Good and gracious God, we give you thanks for the many blessings you have given your children at St. Alban's, Sussex. We ask you to send your Holy Spirit upon this parish so that they may grow spiritually in their relationship with you; that they may grow in their witness, hospitality, and service to the world around them; and that they may grow in their love and fellowship in the community of faith, which you have given them at St. Alban's. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
