New Resource for parishes helps manage historical records
Are you proud of your church, its impact on your community, and what it has done over the course of its existence? Fifty or a hundred years from today, would people be able to find out what it did or why it mattered?
The diocesan historiographer, Rev. Evelyn Payson, has prepared a brief handbook for parishes to use in handling their records and memorabilia when they don't have the time or money for complex, state of the art, archival
management.   It focuses on making it possible for people in the future to
find out what our churches have been doing and on keeping information about
them from vanishing and becoming lost forever.  READ MORE

Madison-Area Julian Gathering

St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church
6205 University Avenue
Madison, WI 53705

What is a Julian Gathering?  A Julian Gathering is open to everyone and you are welcome at all times.  We support each other in the practice of contemplative prayer and contemplative spirituality.  These gatherings are initiated and supported by the Order of Julian of Norwich (www.orderofjulian.org) and have the quintessentially Anglican writings of Bl. Mother Julian of Norwich at their core.  They are for all who want to deepen their life of faith through the practice of contemplative prayer, for beginners as well as those already practicing.  Each meeting includes time for contemplative prayer and reading/discussion of Bl. Julian's revelations.  Don't worry if you've never practiced silent prayer before, we can set your mind at ease.   We meet the second Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 9 PM.  For additional information, contact Susan Fiore, ObJN at slfiore@mac.com.

Youth Council gathers at All Saints' Cathedral in March
Youth Council reports on first diocesan event
On March 11th and 12th 17 youth and 3 adults came together at All Saints'  Cathedral for our first diocesan event. The youth council planned the whole weekend including choosing the theme: Stress - and how to deal with it. In addition to games and icebreakers the youth council also led a discussion on Friday evening identifying areas of stress that our young people encounter in their daily lives. We concluded the evening with compline before the youth engaged in a rip roarin' game of Sardines. While Friday was spent identifying areas of stress, Saturday was spent offering ways to deal with it.
St. James (Milwaukee) celebrates Anglo-Catholic heritage on Trinity Sunday
Holy Trinity Sunday at St. James Milwaukee
St. James Parish in Milwaukee will remember it's Anglo-Catholic heritage on the Festival of the Holy Trinity on May 22nd at 10am. The Eucharist will be a chanted service, with a chorale singing of the Te Deum with incense, and the use of our century old solemn vestments. After the Eucharist there will be a procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the front doors of the Church, and on the outside steps of the Church the Service of the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be prayed. The Blessed Sacrament will then be returned to the tabernacle and we will have a reception for all who attend.

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING?

Since 2006 our diocese has allocated 0.7% of the diocesan budget to support work done to achieve the MDGs. Last year, contributions from our diocese were sent to 2 projects that are supported by our diocese:
  1. The Diocesan Haiti Project : $2400 to initiate a microloan program at St. Marc's parish in Jeannette.
  1. Companion Diocese of Tanzania: $3614 to contribute toward the construction of a cistern in Newala utilizing collected rainwater from the roof of St. Mary's Cathedral.
In 2016 the MDGs were replaced by the Susutainable Development Goals which extend and build on the achievments of the MDGs. For a list of the SDGs, please see our Letter to Parishes at diomil.org.
It's time again to consider distribution of the 0.7% ($5752 this year) to projects that work toward the achievement of the SDGs. If your parish or a group within your parish is supporting a a project that extends help to "the poorest on earth" you can apply for a grant from the SDG funds.
For more information, please see our Letter to Parishes on the Diocesan website or contact:
Deacon Carol Smith at 608-230-6888 or csmith@carthage.edu
