A message from the Bishop of Ecuador Litoral  Litoral
'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' Psalm 46:1
Bishop Morante / damage in Portoviejo
Dear friends, we would like to express our deep gratitude for the messages of affection and prayers we have received for our Diocese and our country during this very difficult time.
We have lived an unforgettable experience in which we feared for our lives, the lives of our loved ones, and the lives of the members of our faith community. We have clung with deep fervor to the protective hand of our God.
While seeing images in the newspapers and social networks, I just think about the suffering of our compatriots.

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING?

Since 2006 our diocese has allocated 0.7% of the diocesan budget to support work done to achieve the MDGs. Last year, contributions from our diocese were sent to 2 projects that are supported by our diocese:
  1. The Diocesan Haiti Project : $2400 to initiate a microloan program at St. Marc's parish in Jeannette.
  1. Companion Diocese of Tanzania: $3614 to contribute toward the construction of a cistern in Newala utilizing collected rainwater from the roof of St. Mary's Cathedral.
In 2016 the MDGs were replaced by the Susutainable Development Goals which extend and build on the achievments of the MDGs. For a list of the SDGs, please see our Letter to Parishes at diomil.org.
It's time again to consider distribution of the 0.7% ($5752 this year) to projects that work toward the achievement of the SDGs. If your parish or a group within your parish is supporting a a project that extends help to "the poorest on earth" you can apply for a grant from the SDG funds.
For more information, please see our Letter to Parishes on the Diocesan website or contact:
Deacon Carol Smith at 608-230-6888 or csmith@carthage.edu

On April 23, St. Francis House celebrates the ministry's 100th anniversary, a celebration that very much belongs to all of the Episcopal churches in our diocese - to everyone who has been a part of SFH as alumni, supporters, and friends.
The celebration begins at SFH with Evening Prayer at 5:15 PM, led by Bishop Miller, and the blessing of a large icon, gifted to SFH by the alumni family. Drazen Dupor, the iconographer, will be on hand to speak about the icon. The celebration continues at St. Dunstan's, with dinner at 6:30 PM. There will be displays from different eras at SFH, a short program, and lots of new and old friends. Ample parking will be available at St. Dunstan's, with a shuttle to and from campus for evening prayer. Tickets are $35. Seating will be limited to 100 people. You can reserve your tickets for the evening at www.stfrancisuw.org
Prayers for Parishes
The  diocesan Commission on Mission and Development has prepared a cycle of prayers for the congregations of the Diocese of Milwaukee.

April 24, 2016 - Good Shepherd, Sun Prairie
Loving God, we hold before you in prayer the parish of Good Shepherd, Sun Prairie. Grant them faithfulness in living out the gospel for one another and the world, wisdom and patience as they become a multicultural faith family, grace as they seek a sustainable foundation for ministry, and a spirit of sharing their gifts with generosity and joy as they care for their community and one another. May they continue to discern together their part in your great purposes. We pray this in the name of Christ. Amen.
