New director named for Hospitality Center
The Hospitality Center is extremely pleased to announce that Henry Perez takes over as Executive Director starting today, April 11. A former police officer, Perez now serves as an associate pastor part-time for the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church and as the Alderman of District 12 in Racine, where he has been an advocate for the Center. Henry brings a broad range of ministry experience and training which he will use to transition the Center into a new phase of service. Perez is excited about the opportunity because he sees the job as a ministry and an opportunity to meet a need that has grown within the community.
Longtime volunteer Leif Peterson, interim director of the Center, and former director Rev. Kevin Stewart led the process of finding a permanent director.

150 clergy and laypeople attended Leadership Day I
House
Mission and Development planned two Leadership Days for lay and clergy leaders from our parishes to reflect together on who we are, what we have, and what God is calling us to become.

We had an outstanding response to our first event in February with Dwight Zcheile. We had 150
in attendance!!

Registration is close to that number for Leadership Day II at Nashotah House this Saturday, April 16th!  Parish teams attending Leadership Day II will investigate mission, purpose, and financial sustainability -- and then plan their next steps.

Look for a report on Leadership Day II in an upcoming issue of E=NEWS!

The project was in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee's Haiti Project and the NAES Haiti Partnership Program, and the E.E. Ford Foundation. WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING?

Since 2006 our diocese has allocated 0.7% of the diocesan budget to support work done to achieve the MDGs. Last year, contributions from our diocese were sent to 2 projects that are supported by our diocese:
  1. The Diocesan Haiti Project : $2400 to initiate a microloan program at St. Marc's parish in Jeannette.
  1. Companion Diocese of Tanzania: $3614 to contribute toward the construction of a cistern in Newala utilizing collected rainwater from the roof of St. Mary's Cathedral.
In 2016 the MDGs were replaced by the Susutainable Development Goals which extend and build on the achievments of the MDGs. For a list of the SDGs, please see our Letter to Parishes at diomil.org.
It's time again to consider distribution of the 0.7% ($5752 this year) to projects that work toward the achievement of the SDGs. If your parish or a group within your parish is supporting a a project that extends help to "the poorest on earth" you can apply for a grant from the SDG funds.
For more information, please see our Letter to Parishes on the Diocesan website or contact:
