An Easter message from Bishop Miller
"Why do you seek the living among the dead?" This is the angel's question to the women who come to Jesus's tomb that first Easter morn. The women went to the only place they thought the body of Jesus would be. They went on a mission to anoint the body of their dear friend. They had watched as Jesus was beaten, whipped, and nailed to a cross. They had watched him die, committing his spirit into the Father's hands. They made note of where his dead body was placed and it was to that place they went early on that Sunday morning. It was there that they heard the news that Jesus had been raised. It was there that they learned, He is Alive!
Why do you seek the living among the dead? Every time I hear these words I am reminded that the angel's question to the women is the heavenly question to us as well. continue reading

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING?
Since 2006 our diocese has allocated 0.7% of the diocesan budget to support work done to achieve the MDGs. Last year, contributions from our diocese were sent to 2 projects that are supported by our diocese:
- The Diocesan Haiti Project : $2400 to initiate a microloan program at St. Marc's parish in Jeannette.
- Companion Diocese of Tanzania: $3614 to contribute toward the construction of a cistern in Newala utilizing collected rainwater from the roof of St. Mary's Cathedral.
In 2016 the MDGs were replaced by the Susutainable Development Goals which extend and build on the achievments of the MDGs. For a list of the SDGs, please see our Letter to Parishes at diomil.org.
It's time again to consider distribution of the 0.7% ($5752 this year) to projects that work toward the achievement of the SDGs. If your parish or a group within your parish is supporting a a project that extends help to "the poorest on earth" you can apply for a grant from the SDG funds.
For more information, please see our Letter to Parishes on the Diocesan website or contact:

Good Friday Offering supports Church in Jerusalem & Middle East
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry says, "Our journey during Lent always leads us to Jerusalem . . . Our journey as Episcopalians also includes remembering our sister and brother Christians in the Holy Land who maintain the faith which we hold so dear. The political, social and spiritual challenges are well known. Their witness is an inspiration . . . every congregation is encouraged by the Presiding Bishop to participate in the Good Friday Offering. This tradition is decades old and is an important statement of our solidarity with the members of the four dioceses of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. We have a Gospel imperative to be sure they know they are not forgotten . . . "
Good Friday Offerings should be sent to:

St. Francis House 100th Anniversary Celebration Dinner
On April 23, St. Francis House celebrates the ministry's 100th anniversary, a celebration that very much belongs to all of the Episcopal churches in our diocese - to everyone who has been a part of SFH as alumni, supporters, and friends.
The celebration begins at SFH with Evening Prayer at 5:15 PM, led by Bishop Miller, and the blessing of a large icon, gifted to SFH by the alumni family. Drazen Dupor, the iconographer, will be on hand to speak about the icon. The celebration continues at St. Dunstan's, with dinner at 6:30 PM. There will be displays from different eras at SFH, a short program, and lots of new and old friends. Ample parking will be available at St. Dunstan's, with a shuttle to and from campus for evening prayer. Tickets are $35. Seating will be limited to 100 people. You can reserve your tickets for the evening at www.stfrancisuw.org.
