A very happy baptism at Church of the Holy Communion, Lake Geneva
The Rev. Bill McLemore, priest-in-charge of Church of the Holy Communion in Lake Geneva, baptizes
Harrison John Juska, a one year old boy, on May 10th.
He is the son of Teri and Jim Juska who were also married at Holy Communion.
Fr. McLemore notes that little Harrison John splashed the water all around during the baptism  and didn't want to stop when the ceremony concluded .  "Needless to say," says Fr. McLemore, "it added some humor to the ceremony."  Welcome to the family, Harrison John Juska!
NOTE:   Parishes -- please share your pictures with E-NEWS so we can in turn share them with the wider diocesan "family" -- just e-mail them to me at info@diomil.org and identify those pictured, if possible.  THANK YOU!
Weaving God's Promises: curriculum for children/youth

[NOTE:  The Rev. Carla McCook, Bishop's Assistant for Christian Formation, suggests that parishes looking for Christian Formation curriculum for children / youth may want to check out this offering from Morehouse]

Weaving God's Promises is an online, downloadable, three-year Episcopal curriculum for children and middle-school youth, published by Morehouse Education Resources.  It was developed exclusively for Episcopal young people, to foster their understanding of the links between the Bible and Episcopal faith and practice. Within the one One curriculum,  two programs are available:
  • Weaving God's Promises for Children for ages 3-11
  • Weaving God's Promises for Youth for ages 12-14

Volunteer Opportunity with Milwaukee County Board on Aging and Long Term Care
Cindy Frietag, the Volunteer Ombudsman Coordinator for the Board on Aging and Long Term Care in Milwaukee County has asked E-NEWS to pass this along to our readers  She may be reached at cynthia.freitag@wisconsin.gov if you have questions. Bishop Miller has approved this posting.

I am the new Volunteer Ombudsman Coordinator for the Board on Aging and Long Term Care in Milwaukee County. My role is to recruit advocates to make weekly visits to skilled nursing home facilities across the county. I am seeking caring and compassionate volunteers looking for a serving opportunity that will positively impact the lives of residents living in long term care. My purpose in contacting you is to give exposure to this wonderful opportunity for individuals looking to serve others and speak for those who are unable to speak for themselves. Would you be willing to pass along this opportunity to your parishioners through the church bulletin, newsletter or from the pulpit? I would greatly appreciate your help in serving nursing home residents in the Milwaukee community. Here is a brief release for publication or announcement: Volunteers with the Board on Aging and Long Term Care are needed in Milwaukee County to provide resident-centered advocacy by making weekly, unannounced visits with the residents living in a nursing home in their community. Volunteers in the Volunteer Ombudsman Program empower the residents, listen to them, are a voice for them, observe the general condition of the nursing home and communicate with the facility staff to achieve resolution of concerns voiced by the residents. If you would like to find out more information about the Volunteer Ombudsman Program or apply directly, please call 1-800-815-0015 or visit the website http://longtermcare.wi.gov/. Thank you for assisting me with this worthwhile opportunity for improving lives of seniors in the Milwaukee area. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me.

Follow the work of the Diocese of Milwaukee's deputation to the 2015 General Convention

The General Convention is the governing body of the Episcopal Church. The Convention is a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies, which has more than 800 members, and the House of Bishops, which is comprised of nearly 300 active and retired bishops. The Convention meets every three years and has the authority to amend the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church; adopt the budget for the church for the next three years; authorize liturgical texts and amend the Book of Common Prayer; adopt communions and covenants with other churches; set qualifications for orders of ministry and office-holders; elect officers of the General Convention, the Executive Council, and members of boards; and delegate responsibilities to the committees, commissions, agencies, and boards of the Episcopal Church.

Follow the work of the Diocese of Milwaukee's deputation to the 2015 General Convention at the deputation WEBSITE  and  FACEBOOK page.  If you have questions, concerns, or ideas you wish to communicate to the deputation, you may do so on their website's  Contact page.

Add your prayer to the Prayers of the People at General Convention . . .
At the request of the General Convention Liturgy Team, the Society of Saint John the Evangelist is offering a social media initiative called
#prayersof that invites everyone from around the globe to add prayers in words and images to The Prayers of the People at the Episcopal Church's 78th General Convention. Each day, a number of submitted prayers will be incorporated into the spoken liturgy of that day's General Convention worship.
Adding a prayer is incredibly simple. By using the hashtag #prayersof on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, anyone posting a public prayer in words or images will have that prayer included in the prayer website
at General Convention - prayersofthepeople.org .
#prayersof
is based on the seven classic forms of prayers identified in the Book of Common Prayer: thanksgiving, praise, intercession, adoration, oblation, penitence and petition. Themes of life and celebration have been added as there are nine days of General Convention Eucharists.
 prayersofthepeople.org
contains resources to assist parishes, clergy and communicators in spreading the word.
