The Episcopal Church Wants Your Feedback!
Our church wants YOUR feedback: The Task Force for Reimagining the Episcopal Church (TREC) is looking at the structure of our church and how we do our life and policies together. Episcopal Service Corp Intern, Esther Ha, shares her experiences

This is first in the series of blog posts by Corps members of CREATING FOR A CAUSE, The Episcopal Service Corps Milwaukee. Here is Esther Ha from Oak Creek, Wisconsin:

"Hi.  My name is Esther, and I work at the Center for Self-Sufficiency (CFSS) as an Episcopal Service Corps intern.  CFSS is a nonprofit organization that brings in millions of dollars in grants to Milwaukee and uses it to provide evaluation and capacity building services to other nonprofits in addition to healthy relationship, teen pregnancy prevention, and fatherhood programming; case management services; and employment services to individuals in the community and correctional centers.  As a communications intern, I work with our designers and printers to develop and print marketing materials; design my own marketing materials; create protocols and procedures; review and edit grant applications and reports; answer and redirect calls concerning our workshops; write staff biographies; manage our website; interview past participants and write success stories; develop and send various communications, including a monthly newsletter; take minutes for meetings with high-profile community organizers and government employees; provide marketing recommendations; and more.  Coming from a person who dreaded working a 9-5 desk job, the work has been surprisingly fulfilling and even addicting.  What I thought would be static and monotonous proved to be dynamic, challenging and interactive.  And despite not being able to directly work with the community, I found joy in directly serving an organization that directly served the community.  It was no longer about me and the kind of work I wanted to do . . .

Taking The Cross Into The World:  A Good Friday Pilgrimage

On Good Friday morning, the Church will leave the building. Echoing the very public execution of Jesus, several Milwaukee and Madison area Episcopal parishes will participate in bringing the Stations of the Cross into the city streets.

The Milwaukee pilgrimage will begin at All Saints Episcopal Cathedral at 9 a.m. April 18th, where a wooden cross will be carried to eight stations that represent places of power, desolation and comfort. At each station, a nail will be driven into the cross, a piece of the Good Friday Scripture read, and a prayer or hymn offered. Participants and passer-bys will then be invited to write a short prayer and place it on the cross. The walk is approximately 3.5 miles. Anyone may participate and anyone may join or leave the journey at any of the stations. Our pilgrimage will end at St. James Episcopal Church on Wisconsin Avenue sometime between 11 and 11:30 a.m. A bus will be available to take participants back to the All Saints Cathedral.

The Stations of the Cross in Downtown Madison, will be held on Friday, April 11th at 12pm. As we walk the fourteen traditional Stations of the Cross, we will reflect together on how we can trace those events in the geography of Madison today - our issues, stories and struggles. We will start on the sidewalk near the Federal Courthouse, across from the Overture Center, and end in the garden at Grace Church on the square. The total walk will be about 1.2 miles. All are welcome.

Hospitality ministry opportunity for parishes . . .

(Note: This information was forwarded by the Interfaith Conference and Bishop Miller)

When school lets out for the summer, millions of low-income children lose access to a healthy school breakfast or lunch. USDA's Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) can help bridge the summer nutrition gap for children who depend on free or reduced price meals when they are in school. Last summer, of the 21 million students who ate free or reduced price school meals, only 3.5 million participated in a summer meals program.

USDA needs the help of many partners - state agencies, schools, local government, faith and community organizations and others -- to help improve children's access to this vital program. A key factor to serving more children will be expanding the number of feeding sites open to children. Please help us get the word out to community partners who may be interested in serving as sponsors or meal sites.  Learn more about at:  http://www.fns.usda.gov/sfsp/summer-meals-toolkit

Rest in peace . . .
Long-time members of the diocese will remember Ethline Wright, widow of The Rev. Brian G. Wright, a priest of this diocese who last served at Elkhorn.  Ethline died of a stroke on Wednesday, March 11th. Funeral will take place on April 12th at St. Paul's, Watertown (413 South Second Street, Watertown, WI 53094).  Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 pm and the service will begin at 3:00 pm.  Immediately following the service, a high tea will be held in the Guild Hall. For those wishing to send a message of condolence to Ethline's son, Mr. Peter Wright, his address is:
W7978 State Road #106, Fort Atkinson, WI 53535.  Please hold Ethline Wright's family in your prayers at this time of loss.

Holy Living: A Diocesan Lenten Study

by The Rev. Carla McCook, Bishop's Assistant for Christian Formation
As Bishop Miller wrote in his Lenten Meditation, the season of Lent is a time for the faithful to take on a spiritual discipline rather than a season of giving something up. In our new Holy Living video series we invite folks to go deeper in spiritual disciplines. Each Sunday we'll post a new video introducing a new spiritual discipline, and invite you to put them into practice and try them out for the following week. Some of these practices may be new to you, while others may be long-practiced disciplines. Below each video, you'll see a link to the In-Formation blog, where you can participate by asking questions or commenting and encouraging others during this season of Holy Living. Tell us if you try these spiritual practices, and let us know how they enrich your Lenten journey! We hope that this Lenten study will support each of us as we practice Holy Living, to grow deeper in our relationship with our Lord. Access videos and accompanying information HERE.
JAZZ FOR GOOD concert supports Training of Nurses in Diocese of Newala
Student nurses in Newala

JAZZ FOR GOOD Concert on Saturday, April 5 at 7pm at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, located at 6205 University Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin. Local jazz trio Chance Allies, with guest percussionist and clergy husband Phil Hassett (husband of The Rev. Miranda Hassett, rector of St. Dunstan's), will play jazz standards. Suggested donation $10, with all donations to go directly to supporting training for nurses in the Anglican Diocese of Newala, through the Diocese of Milwaukee's companion diocese relationship.

In Newala, in southern Tanzania, church-run health clinics provide much-needed care in poor, rural areas, but need more workers - and young church members can't afford vocational training. It costs $700 to train a nurse in Tanzania!

Come enjoy an evening of great music for a great cause, and bring a friend! St. Dunstan's has a parking lot and is handicapped-accessible. Questions? Call (608) 238-2781.
