There is still time to apply for 2014 UTO Grant!! Application Deadline is February 15th!

The 2014 cycle for United Thank Offerings is now open. Each diocese can submit up to 2 applications each year. One can come for a diocesan program, the second for overseas diocesan connection. We received a grant in 2012 for computers for the Next Generation and in 2013 a grant for the construction of cisterns for the Diocese of Newala.

Information about the criteria and the application itself can be found at the following e-mail address:

http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/united-thank-offering .

When you get to this page click on "information about the 2014 United Thank Offering granting process and priorities are now available."

On that screen go to the criteria item and then to the last item for the application itself. There are also other items on that page which can help you to determine if your grant request fits the criteria.

If you have questions please contact me at [email protected] or 608-798-3688 and I can help you walk through the process. The deadline for UTO applications to be into the national UTO office is February 28 but since the application has to be reviewed by a diocesan committee and approved by Bishop Miller, the deadline for the application to be in the hands of the diocesan committee (Connie Ott - chair at [email protected] ) is FEBRUARY15. If you are planning to submit an application, please let me know so that I can be available to help you with the application.

Meanwhile - thanks to all of you - parishes and individuals who have contributed to the United Thank Offering in 2013. If you want information about the United Thank Offering and how you or your parish can get involved, please contact me at [email protected]

In 2009 at the 162nd Annual Convention, the Diocese of Milwaukee adopted a resolution dedicating the first Sunday in Lent as Episcopal Relief and Development Sunday and calling for congregations and individuals to be encouraged to support Episcopal Relief and Development's life-saving work through prayer and a special offering that will help heal a hurting world. To help you celebrate Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday resources and guides for Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday are available atwww.episcopalrelief.org/sunday . Please contact [email protected]  or call 1.855.312.HEAL (4325) with any questions.

The Episcopal Church Runs with You!
If you want to run, run a mile. If you want to experience something, run a marathon  -  Emil Zapotek

Distance running is an experience unlike any other: challenging, exhilarating, inspiring, and unforgettable. For many people who identify as runners, running is an act of prayer as well as a means of exercise. Running keeps us centered and connects us to the One who created us and called us good, and we want to connect with others who feel the same way.

To that end, you are invited to join other runners from the Diocese of Milwaukee in running the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon on Sunday, October 5, 2014. We will gather as a group for a prayer and a photo before the run (details TBD).

Even if you are not an experienced runner, but have wanted to make a commitment to health and wellness, consider this a prompting of the Spirit! Read more . . .find out how to participate!
