What is E.Y.E. '14?

E.Y.E. is Episcopal Youth Event 2014. E.Y.E. is held every three (3) years for the gathering of Episcopal high school youth. It is five (5) days of Episcopal youth, from all over the Episcopal Church International, coming together, to learn and share faith journeys with lay adults, clergy and bishops, being empowered and equipped to Christ's disciples in the world.

Who Should Attend? Youth currently in 9th-12th grades.

What is the cost? Total Cost for event plus air fare will be $575.00. A $250.00 deposit is due with submission of your application. Final payment of $325.00 is due by March 1, 2014.

How do I apply and what are the deadlines? Application process opens December 15, 2013. Apply online at www.diomil.org - EYE. Application DEADLINE has been extended to January 26, 2014. Spaces are limited to 16 youth. You will be notified by February 1, 2014 of your application status.

How can I help support a Youth to go to EYE?

1) You can encourage any young person you know to apply to go with us. The young person should be a mature, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade high school student, handle travel, able to speak in small groups, and share their own faith journeys, and be trustworthy in honoring covenant behavior.

2) We need individuals' and congregations' support. As you see above the cost is not slight. We do not want any eligible teen to not be able to attend because of finances. Send your checks, payable to Diocese of Milwaukee; Memo line: EYE, Attn: Rev. Carla McCook, 804 E. Juneau Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Resource Center Face-Lift

  books-apple-icon2.jpg

Beginning first of February our Resource Center is undergoing a sorting out. Old books and curriculum will go. The curriculum materials are still in great condition; but, many have gone to an online system by the curriculum/publishing companies. If you would like more information or to come by and take a curriculum home to your parish contact Rev. Carla McCook.

Our other goal is to catalog all the items we do have so we can provide an accurate lending list to our diocese. The Resource Center will remain open during this process. Stop by to see what you may want to borrow. (Tues-Thurs 10-3).

LENT 2014 ONLINE DIOCESAN STUDY

Epiphany: A day, a moment, a season?

What does the word epiphany mean?  Well it can depend on how we use this word and in what context.

Are we talking about the moment recorded in scripture of the wise men finding the infant and his family? In this context the Epiphany is the moment the deity is revealed to a human a being.

Or are we talking about the context of an epiphany, a feeling or ah-ha moment we sometimes have in life? Moments of sudden insight or understanding.

As Episcopalians we are now in the Season after Epiphany. The season we celebrate that follows the one recorded moment in scriptures up until Ash Wednesday. In this Season after Epiphany we notice that again our liturgical color scheme is changed and back to green. We return to green, the color of "ordinary" time because that's the season we live in. We live in the ordinary time between the first appearing of Christ to the world and his return. We live life hopefully, with a few epiphany moments of our own - when God is revealed to us. When new understanding comes to us through our spiritual practices, biblical study, service and ministry and sometimes just through the ordinary of everyday life.

As we read, hear and pray during this season after epiphany listen, wait and be ready to receive an Epiphany.

May Christ be more deeply revealed to you.
