CREATING FOR A CAUSE-epsicopal service corps/mke
INTERNS ARE HERE!
We welcomed 6 Interns from all over the Mid-west for our first program year on September 8, 2013 at their new residence at the former rectory of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bayview. They settled in making a community meal together and took a field trip to Leon's Custard their first night. Monday and Tuesday were spent getting to know each other during retreat at the lake house generously donated for the day by Marshall Pepper and next day at the beautiful St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Port Washington. The Rev. Gary Lambert their spiritual advisor and Canon the Ordinary David Pfaff worked with the Interns to discern this year's spiritual direction integrating their previous work in creativity and social justice. Interns start their work placements this and next week.

Trustees of Funds & Endowments offer endowment possibilities to parishes
The Diocese of Milwaukee Trustees of Funds and Endowments would like to talk with parishes about the ways in which endowments can assist them to maintain their mission and ministry -- and how establishing an endowment is not an impossibility for any parish . . . the Trustees have options they would especially like to discuss with parishes that think they are too small and their budgets too tight to permit them to think about starting an endowment fund.Read the Trustees' letter by clicking HERE .

I wonder how many people will look toward this year's fall giving campaign as perhaps a new beginning-a new way of looking at money, giving, sharing and generosity.... Click HERE to read more

Church Development Institute begins Nov. 16
by Peggy Bean, Bishop's Assistant for Congregational Development & Transitional Ministry
Our Diocesan Church Development Institute is beginning on November 16, 2013. This will be our first Saturday - Sunday weekend to accommodate more schedules.
- This cycle we will be studying culture and how our own church culture as well as the wider culture (including generational issues) impact who we are, how we serve and minister. We will be looking at ways to assess our impact, gain a better understand of ourselves and look at leadership and how we can transform our communities.
- As in every cycle our aim is to equip leaders to facilitate a process of transformation, and to build up the capacities and skills of leaders through self-awareness of one's personal impact on others and the organization; to increase knowledge of theories, methods and processes as a way to assess and understand the behavior and development of the congregation; and to give a safe learning environment where one can practice skills in facilitation, feedback, listening and presenting.
Seats are limited so please take a look at the registration form , put your team together and email by Oct. 1st. Questions contact Peggy Bean at bean@diomil.org or 414-272-3028/ ext. 158.

Clergy shirts needed for Newala's new priests & deacons
 |
Nine of the newly ordained clergy are pictured with visitors from the Diocese of Milwaukee
|
Do you know of clergy shirts which are going unused? The Bishop of Newala would gladly receive them for the dozen new priests and deacons (including the first African woman in his diocese!) whom he will ordain this winter. Although cloth and tailoring is available, both cost money and so people cannot always obtain them.
Bring clergy shirts, collars and buttons to the pre-convention hearings or to Diocesan Convention on October 19.
Address questions to Paula Harris, Chairperson of Newala Companion Diocese Committee. at stlukesmadisonrector@gmail.com .
