Barbara Klauber, Editor
Bishop heads group visiting Diocese of Newala

 Dear Friends in Christ,

On Monday, July 8 I will fly to Tanzania to visit our new companion diocese, the Diocese of Newala. Newala is a brand new diocese in the Church of Tanzania but the ties of this diocese to the area go back to the 1960's when Neal Radtke, a member of our Cathedral congregation served as a lay missioner. The purpose of the visit is to deepen our relationship with the Diocese by spending time with Bishop Oscar, the clergy and people of Newala and see some of the ministries we have supported through diocesan, parish, and UTO Funds.

Accompanying me are Canon David Pfaff, the Rev. Oswald Bwecha, the Rev. Dr. Paula Harris, and the Rev. Dr. Miranda Hassett. Oscar is a native of Tanzania, Paula has overseas missionary experience, and Miranda's doctoral dissertation was in part on the church in Africa. All of us ask your prayers for safe travel and a deepening of the bonds of affection  between this diocese and the Diocese of Newala.

Yours in Christ,

The Rt. Rev. Steven A. Miller

Bishop of Milwaukee
