The ordination of a priest
 | The top photo was taken during the service, as Kyle Olive was ordained by Bishop Miller. In the bottom photo, family and friends gathered with Bishop Miller and the new priest following the service. |
Las week, Bishop Miller traveled to Alexandria, Virginia to ordained one of the Diocese of Milwaukee's seminarians, Kyle Oliver, to the priesthood. The service took place on the 29th of November at Virginia Theological Seminary.
Kyle's home parish is Trinity, Wauwatosa; he was sponsored in the ordination process by St. Francis House, Madison, where he was a House Fellow and board member while studying engineering at the University of Wisconsin prior to beginning seminary. Following ordination, Kyle will continue working at VTS where he will be employed as the Digital Missioner and Learning Lab Coordinator for the Center for the Ministry of Teaching, assisting educators to incorporate technology into the work of lifelong faith formation. He also serve in a non-stipendiary capacity as Assistant for Pastoral Care at St. Paul's Parish on K Street in Washington DC.
Bishop Miller preached the sermon at St. Paul's the Sunday following the ordination, as Kyle celebrated the Eucharist for the first time. A copy of the sermon is posted on Bishop Miller's blog .

All Kinds of Family FUN Saturday!
Fun and family time for Parents, Grandparents, Teens and Children - Any ages, size, or shape of family! Take this day to spend some quality family time together, learn together, play, eat and make lasting memories together!
TWO OPPORTUNITIES TO ATTEND
Sat, Jan 19, 2013 9AM-3PM or Sat, Feb 16, 2013 9AM-3PM
Zion Episcopal Church St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church
135 Rockwell Place 6205 University Avenue
Oconomowoc, WI 53066 Madison, WI 53705
Spend a day exploring how to live out our faith in one of the most familiar and most challenging contexts: our family life. During the day, kids, youth, and parents will explore central themes as separate groups; then come together as families to eat, share, play and create.
In the morning session, we'll explore the voices we use in our household: How do we talk to each other? How well are we connected? Who gets a say? How well do we listen?
In the afternoon session, we'll look at the concept of "discipline" and how it relates to "discipleship" - everyone in our family is learning and growing; how can we do it together, in love?
We hope you'll end the day with some new tools and new ideas for daily life!"

Diocese of Newala needs our help
 |
When the tractor is not running, hoes like this one are the only means of cultivating the fields. |
During this season of Advent, please remember the Diocese of Milwaukee's companion diocese, Newala in your prayers. This financial stresses the diocese faces are many. At this time, they are struggling to raise funds to repair their tractor, which (when operational) is an important source of income for the diocese, as it is hired out to plow fields for local farmers. When the tractor is not running, not only must area farmers return to working their fields with hand tools (see photo) but there are also no funds to pay diocesan office workers. The Diocese of Newala is currently trying to raise approximately $4500 to fix the tractor.
If you would like to make a donation, checks may be sent to the Diocese of Milwaukee at 804 East Juneau Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202. Please make checks payable to Diocese of Milwaukee and put "Newala Tractor" in the notation line. Questions? Contact Neil Radtke of the Companion Diocese Committee at njradtke@wi.rr.com .

Blankets and Blankets and Blankets!
The Church of the Resurrection, Mukwonago has started a blanket ministry to support the Hospitality Center at St. Luke's, Racine. Using our miniature scale model of the church (a fixture of our Father's Day Parade float), we set up a blanket collection station on Highway 83, the main road between Mukwonago and Interstate 43.
The response has been incredible. The mini-church fills up all the time, bags of blankets appear on Sundays, and voicemails come in asking what other donations we accept. So far we've collected 163 blankets, and things show no sign of slowing down. This new ministry reflects our learnings from CDI: assessing our existing resources (our mini-church, our location on a heavily-trafficked road) and seeking out ways to use them in the service of the Kingdom. We look forward to seeing this ministry grow at Resurrection, and to collaborating with other churches as it does.

Hospitality Center Fundraiser set for December 8th
This year's Hospitality fundraiser - Homeless for the Holidays - will be held on Saturday, December 8 beginning at 6:00pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in downtown Racine.
Last year, Robert Roedema from Thrivent Financial Bank and I stayed outside one night in the frigid cold for (6:00 pm until 6:00am) for our first fundraiser. Robert and I will again be outside all night (12 hours) beginning at 6:00 pm on December 8, 2012. We invite "everyone and everybody" to join us for all or part of the night and to experience some of the emotions and to feel the cold that our homeless sisters and brothers experience and feel every cold night.
Our deep appreciation is extended to Thrivent Financial Bank and Racine County Chapter of Thrivent. More specifically, Thrivent Financial Bank has generously offered to match financial contributions received, dollar for dollar, up to five thousand dollars ($5,000). Racine County Chapter of Thrivent has generously offered to match contributions received, dollar for dollar, for up to four thousand dollars ($4,000), which is a grand total of nine thousand dollars ($9,000) in matching funds.
The Hospitality Center began in May of 2011 in direct response to a community need; providing a safe place for Racine's homeless, near homeless, alone and lonely to "drop in" for much needed rest, refreshments and relationship. Located at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in downtown Racine, the Hospitality Center provides hospitality without an agenda - no strings attached.
Please participate, contribute, and pass this along to "everyone and everybody." Please see our flyer for more info! Please use our poster to help publicize!
On behalf of our sisters and brothers who are homeless, near homeless, alone and lonely, thank you for your ever-present interest, encouragement, commitment, and support.
Finally, CALL ME should questions arise or for further information.
The Reverend Kevin P. Stewart (414) 405-5619
