THE TEA CUP TREASURE TROVE
|
Read Your Leaves, Dearie?
|
The most unique line of goods for sale at Lucky Mojo is our curated collection of antique and vintage tea leaf reading cups. First manufactured in 1899, these special divination cups reached the height of their popularity just before the Second World War, and are still made to this day.
Divination cups come in three basic styles -- those that contain astrological symbols, those that contain tea leaf reading symbols, and those that contain playing card symbols.
The cups shown here are offered for sale on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis. We get them in periodically and erratically: at any given time our stock of a particular variety may range from zero to as many as a dozen. ALWAYS CALL BFORE ORDERING these cups. If we are sold out of a particular variety, please send an email to the order department and ask for it to be added to your customer record so that we can contact you (with no obligation on your part, of course) when or if we do locate the type of cup you want.
Prices here are for the cups on hand and are based on what we paid. Prices are subject to change WITHOUT NOTICE as we acquire new or different cups.

Unique Tools of the Diviner's Art
|
One reason there are so many different styles of tea leaf reading cups is that their exterior decorations were made to match what were at the time popular dinnerware sets. Porcelain and earthenware dinner sets were often sold in place settings of six; adding a couple of extra tea leaf cups to match one's set enabled the lady of the house to read the cups of her friends. Because tea leaf reading is not a daily practice, these cups received less use and are often found in excellent condition despite their age.
The two image collections shown in this newsletter BARELY SCRATCH THE SURFACE of the many antique divination tea cups we offer in the shop. The Taltos Cup, the three varieties of Red Rose Cups, the Zarka Cup, the Jane Lyle Cup, the Aynsley Black Feather, the Paragon Yellow Embossed, the Ucagco Three-Legged Cup -- the list is long and splendid. If you want to know more, please see the Lucky Mojo catalogue page on Divination Tools, in the Tea Cup section:
