What an incredibly HOT summer we are having! Many days have been over 90 degrees and some have broken 100. Our old hand-dug water well is still holding out, however, and Raina Woolfolk is hauling hoses hither and yon -- and for that the garden is grateful.

At Long Last We See the Saints
|
We have been making special incense, oils, bath crystals, and sachet powders dedicated to a variety of Catholic saints for almost 18 years now, but we have never had the pictures of our labels on the web.
For all these years the entire Catholic sections of all our catalogue pages except candles hosted the dreaded "Lucky Mojo Image Not Available" graphic. Well, folks, that is all about to change!
It's not that we didn't have the labels -- we have actually used them on all the packages of Catholic products that we have made since October 1996. It's just that we had no time to create the cleaned-up package graphics to show them off at our online catalogue.
Pretty, aren't they? You bet they are. But it took our dedicated, talented friend Leah Rivera to bring the Catholic Saints Image Project together at last. She is crafting the images from extant printable files and creating individual product pages as well as product-line pages for each saint.
And we are not just talking canonized, Vatican-approved church-saints here! We have got some unusual, strangely appealing, and highly-sought-after Latin American folk-saints and "banned" saints as well. Above you will see Ni�o Fidencio, a beloved 20th century Mexican healer who kept a pet panther and dressed up as the Virgin of Guadalupe for his formal photograph.
And here is Jesus Malverde, a 20th century Mexican "Robin Hood" who was shot and killed by the Federales and is now the folk-saint patron of drug dealers, smugglers, and illegal immigrants.
When you consider that each saint is given a unique formula of essential oil fragrances and herbs, based on traditional symbology, and that each Catholic saint formula is available in a total of five forms (oil, incense, sachet powder, bath or floor wash crystals, and vigil candles), you will see that Leah has had about 250 web-ready images to be composited, expressed, and uploaded, plus 250 individual product pages and 50 product line pages to make.
Meanwhile, Ernie Medeiros, our catalogue and database manager, has been working to ensure that we sustain (and in some cases restore) consistency and accuracy in all of the links between our database, our web site, the 300 new pages Leah is adding, and our online shopping cart system.
The coordinator of the Catholic Saints Image Project is nagasiva yronwode, the co-owner of Lucky Mojo and our resident technical expert and rule-set maker. He is responsible for facilitating the conversion of the printable graphic files in California to versions that can be worked on by Leah in Texas, and for quality-control on Ernie's database management.
We sincerely hope that our many Catholic customers will be pleased with the results of this labour-intensive and complex project. We hope to have it completed by mid-August, at which point the team will move on to another section of the catalogue that needs attention and updating.

Our good friends Oberon and Morning Glory Zell of Mythic Images and the Grey School of Wizardry will also be vending their statuary and books.
The entrance fee to this brand-new venue is $5.00 for the day. The location is the Santa Rosa Vets Center. We hope to see you there!
