Weed Your Bookshelves
HMC book swap 2013   Join us this Monday, EARTH DAY, for the Hunger Mountain Coop Book Swap! It's a fun, free way to reuse and share. We'll bring our Green Cones and Soil Savers and tons of information about new ways to reuse and recycle. Hunger Mountain Coop will be holding raffles and special sales all day, but the best part will be decluttering your home of the books you don't read, and take home those you will.

nontoxicnon toxic cleaning
Purge the Garage and
Go Non-Toxic
This is a great time to get rid of household hazardous wastes such as bleach, paints, paint thinners, drain openers, oven cleaners, gasoline, paint thinners, paint, polyurethanes, solvents, tar, pesticides and more.
We have two hazardous waste collections in early May, and two more in June, plus several through late summer and fall. All CVSWMD residents may attend any collectiom. It's $15 a carload, so double up with your neighbors to save gas, time, and money; plus it shortens lines during the events.
Afterwards, try starting anew by using non-toxic cleaning supplies. Click here for a downloadable booklet that explains how to do it.

Notes
Don't Throw it Out:
Go to the ARCC or Use Our A-Z Guide
batteries
We accept batteries of all types at the ARCC
While spring cleaning, consider keeping an extra bin around for the odd collection of items we can take for reuse and recycling at the Additional Recyclables Collection Center (ARCC) at 3 Williams Lane, Barre. We also have an A-Z list on our website of over 120 items that can go for reuse or recycling rather than a landfill. We take everything from bottle caps to propane tanks, from batteries to cereal bags, cell phones, textiles, tires, latex paint, and more ... The list is long and varied, so check it twice.

Click here for the complete list of what we take at the ARCC, hours, and directions.  There is a $1.00 fee per visit; and $2.50 per tire or $3.00 per tire if it's on a rim. Call 229-9383 with any questions.
