Judge Nelson Diaz Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
  The Honorable Nelson Diaz

UAC would like to congratulate our friend and longtime supporter the Honorable Nelson A. Diaz, recipient of The Legal Intelligencer's Lifetime Achievement Award. Judge Diaz will be honored at The Legal Intelligencer's 170th anniversary on June 27, 2013. Judge Diaz has been UAC's pro-bono general council for more than ten years. Judge Diaz was the first Puerto Rican to graduate from a law school in Pennsylvania and was the first Latino judge in Pennsylvania's history, serving on the Court of Common Pleas for twelve years.

Campaign for Working Families
Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards
  
After completing a successful tax season, UAC Program Partner Campaign for Working Families (CWF) is honoring its volunteers with awards and prizes as they unveil this year's tax totals! Each CWF volunteer being honored dedicated more than 100 hours providing free tax preparation to hard working members of our community. On Monday, May 13th CWF is showing its appreciation by awarding each volunteer the "President's Volunteer Service Award" by President Barack Obama and the National & Community Service Corporation. UAC salutes all CWF volunteers for their service and commitment to families across the Philadelphia Region!

 


2013 ResilienC Symposium

 

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, 8am-3:30pm join ResilienC, the Urban Affairs Coalition, and a lineup of dynamic speakers for the 2013 ResilienC Symposium at the University of Pennsylvania's Houston Hall. The symposium aims to encourage conversation, introduce research, successful case studies and program models, and share best-practice protocols for bettering our communities and equipping them for the future. The symposium will help individuals see what other cities and local communities are doing, identify what they themselves want for their communities, and provide ways for achieving it. Visit www.uac.org/events for full details.
