On April 25th, the African American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) presented the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) with the 2013 Non-Profit of the Year Award at their annual meeting. UAC is extremely honored to receive this award for our work uniting government, business, neighborhoods, and individual initiatives to improve the quality of life in the region, build wealth in urban communities, and solve emerging issues. Special thanks to the Coalition Family for driving change from the ground up!

Employers Needed to Provide Summer Jobs to youth!
If you are tired of saying "NO" to youth who deserve a "YES," then stop right now! Commit to supporting the next generation of workforce talent by becoming a worksite for Philadelphia youth this summer. There is no cost to employers! Wages are graciously paid to youth interns by the citywide funder of Summer WorkReady, the Philadelphia Youth Network. We need both social services/nonprofit and for-profit/private sector employers. Become a preferred UAC summer worksite now to support youth who deserve a chance. Philadelphia Home Buy Now to be featured at the PHFA Commonwealth Housing Forum

On May 2nd - 3rd, 2013, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Authority (PHFA) will host the 2013 Commonwealth Housing Forum in Harrisburg, PA. Housing professionals from across Pennsylvania will attend to hear presentations, speakers and panelists on best practices for housing and community development trends. UAC's own Christopher Waters, Community and Economic Development (CED) Program Manager for the Philadelphia Home Buy Now program, will be a presenter and panelist for the employer assisted housing session discussing the design and accomplishments of the Philadelphia Home Buy Now program. Under Home Buy Now, the City of Philadelphia, in partnership with UAC, provides matching grants to employees of participating employers that provide their employees with grants or forgivable loans toward the purchase of a home within the city limits.
