UAC received 600 additional Summer WorkReady jobs for youth ages 14-21, totaling approximately 1,000 UAC paid jobs and internships this summer! Applicants must reside in the City of Philadelphia. The Coalition's recruitment and selection process takes place Mondays-Fridays from 9:30am- 4:00pm. For more information call UAC's Summer WorkReady hotline at 215-851-1800. UAC is also seeking businesses in both the public and private sector to serve as worksite partners for these jobs. These additional jobs are funded by the Department of Labor and the Department of Human Services. UAC Kicks Off Philly Tech Week
  
On April 22nd EveryoneOn launched in Philadelphia; a nationwide campaign that aims to connect Americans to free digital literacy training classes, discounted high speed Internet and affordable computers. This new initiative will complement the work of the Freedom Rings Partnership, an initiative led by UAC, Drexel University and the City of Philadelphia. At the launch event UAC President Sharmain Matlock-Turner was introduced by FCC Commissioner Mignon L. Clyburn to give remarks on UAC's work to help bridge the digital divide.

Saturday, April 27th from 10am - 2pm, KEYSPOT (an initiative of the Freedom Rings Partnership), with Comcast and the School District, will be hosting a Digital Resource Fair at 440 N. Taste of Success in its 11th Year

Entrepreneur Works

 

UAC Program Partner, Entrepreneur Works (EW) will host its Annual Taste of Success Cook-Off & Silent Auction, "Tastes from Around the World: Savor the Flavors", on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Taste of Success will showcase the culinary talents of EW's entrepreneurs and business owners, while also hosting a fun-filled night with celebrity guest judges including John O'Brien of Winnie's LeBus Manayunk, Timothy Spinner, executive chef and co-owner of Cantina Feliz, and Mick Houston, owner of Jack's Firehouse. The event will be hosted by Jim Donovan, a consumer reporter with CBS 3/CW Philly 57 (Exclusive Media Sponsor), and will also include delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts, a silent auction, and an exciting cook-off contest.
