Priorities: News from Urban Affairs Coalition
GreatPhillySchools Lives Online!

In light of recent news regarding Philadelphia school closings, it is important that we provide important information to keep you informed about choosing quality schools. Building on its earlier work to inform parents and caregivers about school choices through the Coalition's Annual Charter School Directory, UAC partnered with the Philadelphia School Partnership to launch a city-wide, parent-focused resource called GreatPhillySchools in October 2012. In just a few months, more than 50,000 GreatPhillySchools directories were distributed to parents, students and community organizations across the city. Although, hard copies are not available at this time, you can still access the full directory at www.greatphillyschools.org !

Need FREE internet access, locate your nearest KEYSPOT computer lab by dialing 311 or come down to the Coalition office at 1207 Chestnut Street 12pm - 3pm; we have a KEYSPOT on the 4th floor! Stay informed and be an advocate! By working together, we can improve education from the ground up!

Philadelphia Housing Authority holds Resident Council Elections

On March 18th, the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) held its first Resident Council Election at Abbottsford Homes for conventional and scattered housing sites citywide. Since October 2012, UAC in collaboration with The League of Women Voters (LWV) has worked with PHA's Office of Resident Services to select initial sites for the 1st  year of the multi-year project; organize and standardize the elections process; and ensure that it meets federal HUD regulations.
