Josh Sundquist's legendary Halloween costumes are both inspired and inspiring.

Sundquist - who is an American Paralympian, a motivational speaker and a member of the US National Amputee Soccer Team - started the tradition in 2010, when he dressed as a gingerbread man. In 2012, he posed as a leg lamp, and last year,  his costume was that of a flamingo.

This year he is, as he says on his Facebook post, raising the bar:

Ask the Prosthetist
Alex Lyons, CPO
Q. Alex, I just started a new job and I don't have very much time off but in the past I've had trouble with skin infections which makes it hard to wear my prosthesis sometimes. I've got to avoid infections. Any tips?

A.  The best way to handle an infection is to PREVENT it! Here are a few guidelines for taking care of the residual limb.
  • Wash your residual limb with mild soap and water, then rinse and pat dry. Do this at least once a day; do it more often if you sweat a lot or are treating a rash or infection.
  • Wash anything that comes into contact with your skin (liners, socks, inner socket, etc.) with mild soap and water, then rinse and dry.
  • Do not use alcohol-based lotions on your skin. They cause the skin to dry and crack, increasing the chance of infection.
  • Do not use too much softening lotion; use just enough to prevent dry skin.
  • Maintain a good prosthetic fit at all times and take care to maintain correct alignment and socket fit. Having the right fit will help relieve pressure spots and soreness.
  • Eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of water to maintain supple, healthy skin.
  • If you are a diabetic, monitor and maintain your glucose levels.

Teen With Shorter Right Leg Designs Snap-On Clothes

From abcNEWS online

Charlotte Robinson has endured painful fractures and surgeries since she was a toddler, but when the then 13-year-old needed to wear a massive brace to lengthen her right leg, there was one thing that bugged her:

A nurse told her the only pants she would be able to wear for her first year of high school were tear-away sweatpants - the ones with snaps up the sides so basketball players can rip them off. She waited until she and her mother got to the car before she said anything.

"'I'm not going into high school wearing boys' pants,'" Sarah Robinson said, mimicking her daughter with a laugh...
