The Fred Elias Ensemble's new CD features a beautiful rendition of the classic Arabic song Leylet Hob (Nights of Love). It was written for Oum Kalthsoum by Mohamed Abdel Wahab, who is considered one of the greatest composers of Egypt. In this workshop, Piper will share intermediate - advanced combinations set to live music renditions of Leylet Hob, presenting her physical interpretation of both rhythm and melody combined with dynamic presentation. Musicians will play live for this workshop, so you will get the added advantage and behind-the-scenes tips of learning to work with a live band. Focus will be on technique and fancy transitions for advanced combos, but everyone will get something out of this innovative workshop. Prepare yourself by practicing your traveling ¾ shimmies and Lift Drop-HipDrop for a few weeks beforehand.
