Practically everyone enjoys keeping up with friends on Facebook. Some people get a bit carried away, spending hours liking, friending and just becoming engrossed in every detail of their community of Facebook contacts. While it may be fun, it generally doesn't do much for your career or your income.

On the other hand LinkedIn offers the kicks of social networking while simultaneously planting your career flag and advertising your skills and experience to a worldwide network of professionals. It doesn't matter what line of work you are engaged in, it is the way to keep up with co-workers, prospective employers and decision makers who can help your career become everything it can possibly be.
Establishing a LinkedIn account is just as easy as setting up a Facebook account. Once you're up, your background and capabilities will be on display for employers and contacts in your industry to review. Employers appreciate being able to learn about you and your qualifications at times that are convenient for them. Your presence on LinkedIn establishes you as a someone serious about your career and abilities.
As you build your network of LinkedIn contacts, you'll be informed when people you know change jobs, get promoted, or have a work related problem to solve. Each change or problem may spell opportunity for you!
Let's face it, the time you spend on Facebook is generally wasted. While gossip might be fun, it doesn't pay the bills. With LinkedIn you can have the pleasure of keeping up with your contacts while building your personal brand.
The important thing is having the presence. Don't worry about creating a grand profile. Keep it simple and always keep it current. As for a photo, naturally a professional head shot is best. They will present a dynamic workshop for women who are looking for affordable ways to tweak their work wardrobes to convey the message of success they need to move up. My Girlfriend's Closet is a consignment boutique in downtown Sonoma offering women an efficient and tasteful way to upgrade their appearance. The store is offering a special discount for attendees of the workshop. There is no charge for the workshop, but space is limited! We'll have a small group with comfortable atmosphere.
